A concert experience on an album. A tour de force.

For mainstream mentalities... take the best of numerous artists' unplugged performances of the 90's, throw in a bit of a Ben Harper heart and soul and mix in a live concert experience and the memories it fosters... and you have the BEGINNING of an idea of what this band's album means to your ears, your mind, your heart... and maybe even your soul.

For those of you who have garnered slightly more educated palettes of musical tastes... take the lyrical hypnotics of Jeff Buckley, Ray LaMontagne, Band Of Horses and a little touch of folksy celticism like the Irish Rovers (with a modern sense of swagger and cool) and mix it feverishly with grandiose and precise harmonizing equaled only by the truly most devoted of artists/bands (and barber shop quartets) as well as a purely poetic instinct for knowing when to be subtle and when to intersperse a moving, toe-tapping and sometimes heart-renching and fist pounding crescendo. This is the music of the every man. This album has the heart of an Irish folk song about the land and the sweat of a people... but it isn't Irish. This album has the toe-tapping head-nodding sing-along encouraging rhythms of the best rock and roll albums out there... but it does it injustice to lump this merely into a single category or label it at all.

This is MUSIC, pure, naked and visceral. This is something that comes along only once in a while. Out of the 100's of albums released every year only a few truly transcend genres and break through the walls of mainstream drivel into the realms of creativity genuine originality. THIS is one of those albums. I wish I could explain in a less crazed and raving fashion what this album has meant listening to it so you would know I was more than just a rabid fan of my own bias, but, I cannot. All I can say is... I listened to this cd uninterrupted from beginning to end and was captivated during the entire journey. Not only captivated, but often moved and desperately eager to sing along as soon as I learned all the words. It has been 3 days... I have listened to each song at least 4 times.

If you are looking for a new album for your collection or maybe if you want to try something beyond the Top 40 charts... get this album and listen to it as soon as you can. Listen when you are sad, listen when you are tired or frustrated, listen when you are on a road trip... this album has the ability to be the anthem to ALL you life's events.

In conclusion... it is obvious... I recommend this album to any and all people with a heart and a soul. I honestly do not see how anyone could dislike this album unless they have been completely enveloped by the Top 40 mainstream machine of hip-hop and pop garbage of generic and mass produced garbage that is far too common out there. To all those lucky enough to break free from the garbage... welcome to albums of true greatness... albums like Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More!

Excellent! Awesome! Perfect!

This is by far one of the greatest albums of all time! Mumford & Sons are in a class all their own- powerful lyrics and vocals, incredible musicians, every song on the album reaches out and touches your mind, body, heart, and soul. You will see yourself or someone you know in every lyric, and learn more about life every time you listen- and you will listen- over and over again! You won't be sitting down, as the music will make you want to dance your heart out! Every song is a soulful masterpiece, and wrapping up the album perfectly is- After The Storm- filling you with strength and hope. This is one journey you will never want to end, and one of the greatest you'll ever experience.
Definitely leaves you thirsting for more from these incredible artists!

Best album ever!

This is the best CD I've bought in a really, really long time. I was surprised that my metal-loving, grunge, punk husband loves it as much as I do - folksy and classic rock lover. It's a great mix of spirituality for real people, folky strings and jump around music. I seriously love this album!Read full review...
