Karen Silkwood-martyred to protect big government and corporations.

Based on factual events about a 'whistleblower' at a plutonium plant (Kerr-McGee) where many safety violations occurred jeopardizing the workers.and product safety. Names of some of the characters portrayed were changed in the movie because a lawsuit was pending by Karen's family against K-M. Based on later investigations after the initial finding of a 'single car accident' that suggested Karen fell asleep at the wheel or was impaired by drugs/alcohol strongly suggest that her car was forced/run off the road and into the culvert resulting in her immediate death.Independent articles written by investigating reporters also uncovered possibility of conspiracy of illegal sale of plutonium from this plant (and others) to entities outside the U.S. She was most likely contaminated with plutonium planted in her urine test bottles and her make-up at home. The movie sticks with most of the credible facts as known at the time of production. Very good movie however I suggest persons really interested in Karen's suspicious death, read dome of the books available. Coverup, consipiracy and murder.Read full review
