The S-word doesn't stand for Squash, ladies!

I read the reviews before I purchased this book and thought I knew what I was getting into.Having read a number of books about diet and nutrition, my interest was piqued after I had seen the authors justifying the "salty" tone of their book on the Today Show a while back and had always been curious...I mean, who can resist something salty? Plus, I felt I was already kind of a bitch- why not go the whole way and be a skinny bitch? Anyway, being known to swear like a sailor myself, I bought the book thinking it couldn't be nearly as offensive as the old church ladies said! Basically, I have determined that these women figured if they dropped the F-bomb a few times while talking about vegtables, maybe said vegetables would become more interesting and people would eat them? There's broccoli and then there's fucking broccoli. Now that's a green veg we can all get down with! In a way I see their point. Tough talk, tough love on some tough issues. Ok. I get it. If you can get by the middle school shock-talk, there's some facinating information regarding the USDA and other asinine government agencies. The information they provided with regards to dairy COMPLETELY changed me and hence, I will never, EVER eat dairy again...it was that compelling. Though I think many people will be turned off by the suggestion of going completely vegan, the information is very, very good and if you are completly confused about what to eat and what to put into your body, buy this book. Just don't share it with your Gram!Read full review...

A lifestyle, not a diet

Quick read. Very opinionated book, uses a lot of crass language, not for the sensitive type. These women give it to you straight and appear to have done their research (over 300 sources for this over 100 page read). This is definitely a book for people serious about changing their lifestyle and eating habits, a pro-vegan outlook.

An open-mind is necessary when reading this book. Don't be afraid of change or doing something to improve your life. Recommended food is organic, which yes - costs more up front, but the money saved on doctors, hospitals, other medical bills over the course of your life should be considered, and in the end will save you money.

If you are looking for something other than they regular quick-fix diet plans - read this book. I highly recommend it!

Skinny Bitch "lifestyle"

What I liked- These women are very straightforward when it comes to making their point. I LOVE that. They did not "sugar coat" anything- no pun intended!
They also blow the whistle on our government agencies that are supposed to protect us while they are really just lining their own pockets without regard to our health.

What I didn't like- I do not agree with a total vegan diet. They are 100% against all animal products. I believe if you are smart about what types and sources of animal products you choose, you can still be a "skinny bitch."

I bought the book because I heard it was a good book. I also and tired of being an overweight woman and needed a little bit of a pep talk to get me inspired to do something about the food I eat.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is ready for a change in food choices, and who is also strong enough to be be insulted like a new recruit at basic training. They do it in a very amusing way!

Inspirational, motivational, but really heavy on GO VEG

I find this book quite inspirational as a diet motivator - their straightforward style and "bossy girlfriend" tone really hit home. I'll come to this again and again when diligence falters. But be warned - this book hits the "GO VEGETARIAN" pretty darned hard.

However, as grossed out as I am at the meat industry, chemical additives, etc. I just can't go totally vegetarian due to health issues. I am more and more careful about additives, chemicals, have cut WAY down on soda (from all day every day to just one or so a week) so my overall intake has been quite swayed. Can't wait to get the cookbook by them!

Do you like being patronized?

Than this is the book for you. Pretend Rush Limbaugh mated with PETA (yes, the whole organization) - these two could be their pretentious, overbearing daughters, with an extra heaping spoonful of bully added to their personalities, as well.

They write as if their readers are complete morons. I can appreciate their straight talk about the food that we eat, and I found some of it informative and even, at times, quite funny. However, I don't appreciate reading that I need to get my "cankles" to a health food store. Their assumption of their reader (fat, slob, pig, etc) is not particularly likely to help those that they are presumably trying to help. As everyone past elementary school knows, bullying is not a very effective way to promote change. At any rate, it's easy to see that they are just trying to cause hype to sell more books. It might work.

I don't think that the general population will be able or willing to follow the extreme way of life that they preach. They should be writing for an animal rights newsletter, because most of the book is based upon your need to be a vegan, complete with gross-out animal product stories. I can understand where they are coming from - I am a vegetarian too, and I get grossed out by meat sometimes, but I wasn't reading this book to learn about animal holding and slaughtering conditions.

If you like being yelled at via paper, or if you think you would enjoy a restrictive dietary boot camp, then by all means you might enjoy this book. Otherwise, save your money. I was very thankful that I got this book from the library - it isn't worth the money.

Skinny Bitch

I bought this book because I read a news paper article on the book when it first came out. I saw it on ebay and decided to bid on it.
It is a good book. Like it states a no-nonsense tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous. It offers great information on being vegan and that alone helps one loose weight. This book may offend some people but it is part of the tough love and to some people it will get thier attention much quicker. I have lost weight with help of books like Skinny Bitch and I say thumbs up to people who want to purchase this book.
Thank you for having it on Ebay!!!

Skinny Bitch- no holds barred

I liked the no holds barred approach of this book. It lays out the information in a honest, stick-it-to-you way and gets the point across without sugarcoating it. This book gave a lot of good information that I found useful, and some of which I am trying to implement into my daily regimen. I did find this book tends to be preachy about becoming a vegetarian, but it does give insight into the crap us Americans are ingesting. This book gave me the power to think about everything I consume, and is making me think twice about some of my decisions. It's always better to be informed.Read full review...

Makes You Want to be Vegetarian

If you are sensitive to animals, this book will make you want to be a vegetarian or vegan. There is a lot of good information regarding eating well that I had never thought of before. There is also a strong argument for not eating meat and some very graphic and disturbing commentary about what happens in the slaughterhouse. If you want to learn about how to improve your health, this is a fine book, but I also need to add there is a lot of gratuitous foul language designed to get your attention. It is completely unnecessary and after a while it starts to become annoying in the way it would be annoying if you were reading someone who put "like" in most of their sentences. "Like if you were going to like drink soda, then you might as well like eat sugar straight out of the bag." But instead of like, there is a variety of curse words. Anyway, I have mediocre feelings for this book. I'm sure there are better ones out there with the same information.Read full review...

Excellent Tough Love Book!

I don't really read, but I honestly have read half of this book in the first day! Everything is so easy to read and every sentence is more interesting than the next. This is not just a book or a fad diet, it is a completely different way of life. A way of life that will better you and your family, this easy step by step guide helps even the most unhealthy person out there! If you buy this book you will not only lose weight, you will be able to eat chocolate, cookies, potatoes, corn, and much much much more! This needs to start a trend in America and we need to let these government pigs know that they should care about us and they need to care about what us as Americans put in our body! The things that the government approves in our food seriously has me questioning if our government truly cares about the average American! This book shows that there are many different foods out there that are just as tasty, but just made better, without disease causing products included in the food so that these million and billion dollar companies can keep becoming more wealthy! And if you think about it, not only do the food producing companies become more wealthy with each passing day, but it also helps out with the medical and pharmaceutical companies that make money off of us! While we are getting fatter and sicker they are just getting richer! Doesn't seem fair, does it! America!!! We need to wake up and realize that if we just change a couple of bad habits that they have brain washed us with, we would be a healthier country in every way!Read full review...

Its pretty good!

I really like that the book is encouraging women in general to become vegan. I've been vegan for about 2 years now, and I bought this book in hopes that it would interest me in losing more weight. Don't get me wrong its a good book, and "haha" we get it... You're a bitch. But really? come on now stop calling me names, its not making me want to read your book. I think its a good book to get the point across that animal cruelty is terrible and a vegan life style is FANTASTIC, but really, I'm not hot on the trash talk.

All in all a pretty good book though
