Very good for capturing special family events and travels - or for playback
My rating in regard to picture quality is relative to what is available today for $200-$300. The quality for the era when this was new was very good. Ease of use was great. Battery life was pretty good, but I carried a spare battery to ensure I did not run out of power on an all day outing. Value for the money was also very good when new. At least on review on eBay is in regard to something recently purchased and really has nothing to do with the actual item when in Normal operating condition. These are relatively fragile and includes mechanisms that may sometimes need repair. I don't recommend this except for those that have 8mm cassettes that they want to play, or that want to record on 8mm tapes for some reason. If you have those needs, this is a relatively inexpensive way to go since they can be bought for about 5% of the original price.Read full review...

I bought this handi-cam because I had the same one which was broken. I could not play the films I took to transfer onto a dvd so I purchased this to play my old dvds. When I put the tapes in the one i bought on e-bay it did not work. A waste of money. If they had said it would not play a video, I would not have purchased it.Read full review...
