This camera was an inexpensive and easy to carry alternative to my more expensive Nikon Multiple lens camera. The Sony camera is less bulky and much more functional than using a camera phone. I am enjoying the opportunity of learning about utilizing the full functionality of this camera. I will use it more for taking pictures of my collections. Great camera

Luckily I had my own charger - have another Sony camera that uses the same battery. Had a hard time in finding memory card, the camera wont work without the memory card installed. Found them in Ebay, bought two memory cards. Yes it works quite well and takes excellent pictures. Read full review...

This for me is the best Sony camera that they have ever made! Recommended.

I bought this camera as I already have one the same, but because it is now about 5 years old and been used so much, I wanted to buy the same one that hadn't been used, as a replacement for the one i have should it eventually not work. I have actually broken the picture taking button on my camera, it is gone, but I can still take photos, but for how long, who knows! It would be expensive to fix as would anything else that may go wrong. For me it is the best camera I have owned, it has many features and just the right size to be comfortable to use. It takes wonderful pictures, there is absolutely nothing I can say about this camera to deter other people from buying it, other than it is 5 years old! There are new ones on the market, but for my photography, I don't want to change lenses or even have a stronger zoom, this model is perfect.Read full review...

Great for a step into digital photgraphy

Im really glad I bought this camera. Ive been taking pictures as both an amateur and professional for close to five decades now and have been resistant to switch to digital format.
I have several ver fine film cameras and lots of accessories for them. M into to diigital was with an old Sony DSC -5P and I really liked the instant review,portability and versatility.
I just happened onto this listing..notice the Zeiss Lens and decided to take a chance.
This camera is very versatile and, even at only 8.1 megapixels, produces great prints up to 8x10.
Navigating the menus is a bit cumbersome and confusing at first and the controls are certainly more geared toward small hands: that's the only reason I don't give it five stars.

I love this camera! We wanted a better camera than just a point-and-shoot. We have a Nikon, nice little camera, but it takes AA batteries, and go's thru them quickly if you force-flash it. My brother had a Sony when we were together this past Xmas, I liked his, so I went on Ebay, found this one, bid on it, won the bid! Couldn't be happier with the camera. When I got it, it was as advertised, it was like new! I got a real bargain! I've checked the retail price on these, it's somewhere around $460, I think I got mine for around $75, can't beat it!
