Amazing device in all aspects but know more about it before you buy

Feature wise, it's another Android mobile so it simplay has many features that you might need or not!!
Handling the device is easy; however it's little big due to the keypad it has.
about supporting playstation games is not working as expected.
When i searched over the internet, i found some ways that enables some gaming abilities like old video game concoles such as PS1, Nintendo 64, SEGA Mega Drive,etc..
there is also some rumers about future abilities will be made by PS nothing is confirmed.
Music & video are WOW!! amazing sound and great colors on big 4 inch screen with two stereo speakers you can make people dance around you!!
The Camera 5.0 MP is terrific but the options are limited on the pre installed still photo software.
Video recording is outstanding in all aspects, it shows video like if they were taken by a real camera not with mobile.
The gamepad it has is unique..it's easy to use and simple.
battery life is low compared to other Android phones like Samsung Galaxy.
Using chatting softwares like MSN, Parlingo etc.. is also great and you can use the device for video chat not video call only.
I already bought 3 units and yet i get many requests from friends to get others for them!!
Style wise, it makes people turn there heads towards it when you are in bus, office or where ever you are just to see what's so glowing yet loud and attractive device in your hand!
Using it as a normal mobile is totally satisfing with ease of control, Good network signal ( waaaaayy Better than iphone 4!!), SMS,MMS,bluetooth...it's like having the new technology with all the old mobile features not like the iphone which is so restrecting.

It's a wonderful device...not perfect but it's a great thing to buy.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming features will be added soon from sony ericsson.
If you want to buy a device that has it all and can accept low battery life..then never hesitiate.
in clousre..
I love Sony Ericsson Xperia Play!!
Best wishes to all of you

Sony Experia Play

The hardware and form factor are great!
I really like the look and the foldout keypad/game controls. Getting phone service is an issue and I cannot update the Playstore because the Android version is now obsolete.
Upgrading to Android 4.1 marshmellow causes other phone features to malfunction. The phone was not designed for this. The tech is old. However, I bought this for gaming and simply adding an SD card loaded with games makes it an awesome handheld gaming system. I Love it. I will be replacing the battery with a new one for extended performance. Overall it is super!!

Delivers its promise and serves its purpose well! Will not disappoint!

I was on the market for a new phone, as well as a portable video game system. Considering I had used an android before, I remember being able to play some decent games and emulators even though the phone specs weren't anything special. I started Google-ing for a "video game phone" and this is what I found. The first thing I thought when I saw the phone, was that it looks remarkably similar to the psp go, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least partially the inspiration for this phone, if not perhaps the other way around.
On previous android phones I found it difficult to play most games unless it was Angry birds or something similar. Emulators were complicated with virtual keypads on the touch screen, didn't work all that great as they aren't the most responsive, not to mention your fingers blocking a rather large portion of the screen. In the end the only playable games were Pokemon and other games that didn't require too much active key pressing. If you wanted to play a Mortal Kombat rom, you can forget about it.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play addresses these issues with it's slide out gamepad. It responds really well and makes for the best gaming experience on any phone that I have yet to try.
The phone itself has a nice feel in your hands, it feels solid and comfortable with easy access to all the buttons, including L + R. It is not a paper thin phone like most other phones out there, when the phone's gamepad is slid in it feels nice and thick and doesn't feel like it will break by simply bumping into it, leaning on it, or even dropping it, although I'm not going to test this.
On any other android phone, I dismiss the N64 emulator as it never worked really well with the touch screen analog controls being a nightmare, not to mention most phones just have a hard time running it because of hardware restraints. I was happy to see that there are N64 emulators available that allow the use of the analog controls on the phone, and on top of that, It plays most of the games flawlessly, with some games lagging a little more then others. You can usually fix this by adjusting certain graphics settings and maximum allowable consecutive frame skips, not to mention some emulators even giving you the option to adjust the resolution.
As for battery life, it's decent. What really put me on the fence about buying this phone were some comments about the phone having a short batterry life. Sure, if you sit around playing games all day, messing around on your phone and such, your phone may last you one active day. I only game out on it about an hour or so a day, with occassional txting and calling, and the phone usually lasts a good 3-5 days without needing a charge. Apparently it takes 5.5 hours of straight gaming with brightness at maximum to drain out the battery, although I have not tested this out, it sounds fairly accurate.
In the end, if what you're looking for is a gaming phone, there really is no better choice currently available on the market, if any other choice at all, and for 220-240$, how can you go wrong with this? It does everything it claims it can do, and for a decent price at that.

Gaming, beer, and a whole lot of fun.

As far as nostalgia goes, this is the greatest device ever. If you're looking for a powerhouse, you're staring at the wrong device, but if you want to relive your childhood, this thing is the best chance you've got.

Features: Android. That's the most open mobile OS that is complete, full of developers, and can make phone calls. Seriously, just look up generic android reviews.

Ease of use: Same as above really. The Sony Timescape UI is completely removable if you hate it, and easily at that.

Battery life: I average 12-15 hours. If I game it's closer to 8-10 hours. If I game from 100% non stop, it's between 2-6, depending on the intensity. Also, spare batteries are cheap and plentiful.

Value of money: I paid $49.99 even. No contract. No strings attached. Just the phone. All I do is play emulated games, and occasionally call or text people, but the real seller here is games.

Great.

A great smartphone, and a great gaming device for enthusiasts. 5 out of 5.

Great phone for a user interested in playing more traditional games. The phone is quick and snappy, and is the only smartphone that I know of which has a dedicated GPU. It runs on Gingerbread Android, with the option to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich if you ROOT the phone. The size is perfect, in that it's not too thick, nor is the screen too big. It works great on both At&T and T-Mobile cellular networks, so don't be afraid to use it with either carrier; I'm using it on T-Mobile myself.

I give it an overall rating of 5/5, with my only warning being that long game sessions will quickly drain the battery. Just keep the brightness low, or keep a charging cable nearby if you're sitting down for a long game session. Otherwise, with normal smartphone use, it is neither better nor worse than any other phone on the market, with regard to battery life.

The best product in its class.

It is a very very funny
Since your goal is to provide entertainment to the user
especially people who like a lot of video games
It has a very good camera (5MP) Led photographic, what I like most is the clarity offered in the videos and photos!
The processor is fast on the Internet, in games and applications using Android
The touch screen is very sensitive and fast response as a Keyboard
The exterior design is very modern and offers much comfort to play
especially when controls slip of the same as a video console

Just buy it! having a playstation on your pocket is amazing!

Very good phone, the playstation experience you have on it is unique. It feels like going back in good old times when psx ruled the videogames world. Or even sooner with the SNES!

Fast processing and good interface, the only negative point i could find is that is a little bit heavy, but its necessary to have a good graphics performance. It also doesn't have FM radio.

But overall its a beautiful and high quality phone. Good graphics, nice interface, great big 4 inches screen, and everything else! I am totally satisfied, no other cellphone in the market can bring you such a realistic playstation experince like this one!

Totally recommend it!

Definitely a gamer's smartphone, carves it's own niche market.

A gamer's smartphone. Specialized gamepad slider certainly built for gaming, conspicuously similar to a PSP Go. Sony games are still limited but there are available emulators that enables use of the gamepad. Screen is vibrant enough for both gaming, android apps, and smartphone functionality. Android Gingerbread runs snappily with hardly any noticeable lag.
Main dislike is the user interface for the PS games - this is really geared more for gaming rather than smartphone or communicating use. Lack of HDMI connections also a big deficiency. Wifi signal reception is easily affected when in landscape orientation or when palms cover both ends of the phone - which how you use it with the gamepad.
Compared to my older smartphone, this is definitely a big improvement. Other Android smartphones may be more appropriate for casual users, but if you like games, this is a very good contender.
