Great Experience - Note to those worried about simulation sickness

Sony has done a fantastic job with the Playstation VR headset. Took only minutes to set up, the VR headset is light and comfortable, my TurtleBeach Stealth 520 headset fit comfortably on top (so you dont have to use earbuds). VR is so fun, having an affordable option brings this incredible experience into my home. I had a lot of motion sickness when I was younger - especially when travelling in the back seat of a car. I have experienced some simulation sickness as well. None of the VR Worlds games/demos made me feel ill. The game that made me feel nautious first was the rez infinite demo. When the game started to take rapid jumps and track changes, I had to stop playing. I got the worst simulation sickness from driveclub VR but it seemed to mainly be my fault. I had no trouble driving through the first three laps and actually managed to get into first place, but towards the end of my third lap I took a turn too hard and spun out. When I tried to recenter myself I ended up overcorrecting and doing a couple of donuts. Thats when the simulation sickness hit me. Other games like Eve Valkyrie and Rigs gave me slight feelings of simulation sickness if I did fast maneuvers but as long as I was either chewing gum or had a fan blowing on my room I was able to play these games without any issues. My plan is to slowly increase my exposure to the VR environment over time and take breaks (especially after fast paced gameplay). Don't rush it and try to MLG everything right off of the start. For those of you worried about simulation sickness, I hope my experience helps you to make a more educated purchase decision. Although I do get slight simulation sickness from the more fast-paced games, the experience is well worth it. I would recommend that you try out Playstation VR before purchasing, especially for people that get motion sickness/sea sickness. But for me, as someone who has no problems with sea sickness and only moderate problems with motion sickness - Playstation VR is 100% worth it. Very happy with my lightly used purchase from ebay. Shop with confidence!Read full review...

Great introductory product for VR, but not for people who appreciate details.

I would say this is great for people who are just getting started with virtual reality. With the PSVR, you can play games in VR and stream content like you're in a virtual theater with a huge screen.<br>
I think for people that have a bit more experience or very into the details, they'll notice the lower resolution of the goggles too much. It really bothered me. Other than that, I didn't think there was a significant latency issue.

Great item, but be ABSOLUTELY sure before you buy one.

These headsets actually work really well for the most part. It seems to be that if you're having an issue, it's either due to your PS4 camera positioned incorrectly or it's poor game designing from the game you're attempting to play. The only real issue I have with these headsets is that they seem to be designed for one size person only. If your head is slightly too big, then the headset will not sit comfortably. If your head is slightly too small, the weight of the VR will cause it to always fall forward. They are built to last, but the design itself doesn't seem to have been thought out well.Read full review...

Much more fun than I expected

My son was bugging me for a year to get this. I was very resistant at first. I tried one at a Fry's, and their display unit was all greasy and smudged, and when I looked in it, I wasn't impressed. When we finally had one at home, I had a chance to play with it for quite a while and was really blown away!

First off - it fits on pretty easily. What's fun is that you can transfer it between two players and you don't need to fiddle with it very much. You do have to kind of tweak its placement to get it to line up correctly with your eyes. With my contacts in, everything is crystal clear, but it takes some fidgeting to get it there.

Once you are "inside" it is a completely immersive experience. My first extended try was with "Job Simulator," a hilarious game (kind of a mix between office space and the simpsons.) As you look around, there is zero lag - it really feels like you are in this goofy cubicle. Your virtual "hands" move exactly as real hands, and as you move the wands, they move. You can pick things up, rotate them, look from different angles, bring them closer or farther away. It is just crazy. A cart brings donuts by, and when you pick them up, it literally feels like you can eat them honestly!

You can see the pixels to an extent if you concentrate, but when you are focused on a game, you really don't notice it. It is kind of strange to pull of the helmet and rejoin real life!!

Considering how much an Occulus costs, I think this is an excellent value.

I must say, sony did an amazing job with the VR headset and I can't wait to see what other games comes out in VR! I just picked up Resident Evil 7 and it is absolutely insane and scary!! Being in the game, the level of detail is amazing!!! Def worth picking up. It can make you a lil dizzy if you play it too long but its the real deal! I also have the 1TB PS4 Pro with a 4K TV so the graphics is unbelievable!!!

I def recommend buying a VR, you will not be disappointed!! My son tried it and B-Lined towards the TV because he thought he was in the game lol, thats how real it is!! BUY ONE PEOPLE!

Technology has one great advance in VR

The pros are that the headset is very light and easy to set up for your style and needs. It is extremely comfortable, well designed, and easy to adjust the fine settings. Sony has many VR games available now and I believe gives them a heads up on the competition in this area. VR comes with and without motion controllers so I suggest you make sure you have them as they are necessary for some games. Suggest the PlayStation4 Pro; though any PlayStation 4 will work on 500GB or 1TB.Read full review...

Top quality VR experience! Without being too hard on the wallet

While it's a 4-year-old product at this time, the resolution and OLED display were serviceable enough to completely immerse me into the PS4's wide array of VR games. The library is jam-packed with top-quality games which is why I recommend this VR platform more than any other for casual gamers who want to easily enter a complete, enjoyable VR ecosystem. Got it in January, Still using it!!!

I bought mine on eBay, so I totally went through the cleaning process for the mask, because it goes on my face. It actually looked new. They only used it a little, but I think they got motion sickness. Their loss, my gain.

If you can play without getting sick, you're in for a great time!
My nephews love it too. One of them got motion sick at first, but after a while, he was totally used to it.

I love playing Sparc. It's like a Mix between baseball, dodge ball, tennis, lol everything. It's a total workout, I swear. I just got done playing right now and I need a shower! My feet hurt, my arms are going to be sore from all that throwing I did, and I know I built up some super muscles.
It's hot in my house right now, and I have eczema, so I had to take off the rubber face guard. I like using the guard because it blocks out all the light, but when it's hot and I'm sweating, the sweat burns my face since I have eczema. When it's not hot out, it's not so bad. I would recommend putting a fan out of reach, but in front of the person playing.

I played just now from 11pm to almost 4am. That game is intense, but being able to talk to people and joke around while you play just makes it so much better.

Obviously if you have kids playing, sometimes you may want to just disable voice abilities completely. You can easily change it in the settings of like every game. Some even have push to talk. If you forgot, you can always mute the microphone with a push of a button to mute what you're saying or disable all voice chat.
I have astigmatism. I don't need to use my glasses, but using them totally help. This headset totally works with glasses.

There are awesome scary games like resident evil...I really am trying to play it...but it's so scary.
There are sit down super fun games like Star Blood Arena. That's the game that gave my nephew motion sickness when I controlled it and he used the headset...It's better when you control the game yourself.
There are awesome active games like Sparc. I just got Sprint Vector for it. It's fun too, but there's something about Sparc that just keeps me coming back, so I haven't played Sprint Vector as much.

The free game Playroom VR is SO FUN with friends/family. I swear, the fun is in playing with others!!! Get a group together, have one person on the headset and the others on the regular controllers and tv and you're in for a really fun time!!! For the most part, switching is pretty simple. I only have to move the camera if I'm putting it on someone who's really short. I know they say not for children under 12... But my sister said I could let my 5-year old nephew use it, so I let him for short sessions to take turns with his brothers. He's the only one I really need to change the camera for.

Earlier, I'd get a headache after a 2 hours or so. Now, I can play for even longer with no headache. So take breaks though, especially water breaks. Active games take a lot out of you.

I think the best aspect about these VR games is the social part for me. Local multilayer and online multiplayer. Just being able to interact with others is super fun.

I'm still waiting for Sword Art Online!!! Literally got this because SAO's full dive is such a cool idea.
I swear, I wish they'd do an ankle attachment or something so we could have feet, haha. Some things would look so much funnier if you could see my feet when I played sparc. I could imagine so many children, pets and TVs being kicked though... But man...everyone who plays it has so much fun!

I actually did a setup where I attached some retractable ID holders to the ceiling to hold the cord above me so I wouldn't be tripping over the cord.
You'll have to make sure to set yours up so it's not being stepped on. Nothing worse than being in the middle of a match and accidentally unplugging your headset or tripping over it.

If you have kids, I'd say be careful. You could hit them, they could hit each other or the tv etc. Also, if they scratch up the lens, it's no fun. I haven't gotten mine scratched up yet, but I wear glasses, so I know how crappy scratches can be on lens.

It gets foggy if you're hot, so keep a lens cleaning cloth nearby.
Keep water SOMEWHAT nearby too. Better if you have it in a bottle with a cap so you don't spill it.

Be prepared to have some fun!

I love showing off Invasion, but it's a multiplatform port compatible with the Gear VR, so it doesn't take advantage of moving back and forwards or side to side like other things do. I love playing games (even those that I have to play in cinematic mode) in my headset.

Move controllers are almost always a must. You'll need 2. Some games use the DS4 (like playroom VR)
I'm still looking forward to trying out Skyrim when it goes on sale.
I hear Valkyrie Eve is great too.

The online games need ps+ to use online multiplayer features, as usual, but so worth it!!!

VR isn't the right term, but this is awesome!

I'll admit I was skeptical until my fiance walked in the living room and Mortal Blitz had me crouched down beside a recliner, leaning out to blast bad guys and leaning back in to reload! The PSVR is immersive and an excellent purchase if you can deal with 2 flaws. The resolution is lower than it should be, and I'm guessing this is because the PS4 lacks in GPU horsepower is the reason why - don't think this will ever get fixed, not until there is new hardware anyway. It isn't too low to look awesome and enjoy though. When you get into whatever you're playing it becomes a non issue, except when text is hard to read. The second thing to be aware of is if you perspire at all during gameplay the lens will fog up. You have to pull the helmet off and wipe them down then you're good to go. Other than that, this is GREAT! Think of this as VR revision: 1, because that's what it is. Is it the greatest thing ever? No. Is it perfect? No. However it's well worth the 400 bucks and in no way do I regret it. I've played several hours now and look forward to having more time to do so in the future. This is a great step forward for gaming, let's hope they continue to develop it!Read full review...

The beginning of a new era in gaming

I've played video games for decades. This clearly marks a new era in gaming. It's in its infancy, does have some things that you know will be better, but in my opinion, Sony did a great job bringing this out and allowing it to be used with the current PS4. The headset itself isn't bulky by any means, and once a game starts, you forget that you're wearing it. I have not played all of the games yet, but the ones I've played are pretty fun. It's made pretty solidly, mostly plastic, but it feels like it will stay together with simple care. There are wires from the PlayStation to the headset, but they are pretty long. I do recommend this to anyone who has a PS4 and loves video games.Read full review...

VR?

Well it works enough to be fun and engaging but at the same time you can tell the product was rushed to meet demands of the HTC Vice and Oculus Rift. Money wise this is usually the best bet to get the cheapest. The other competition while more expensive tho is also better. A psvr on sale is the best value because one of these for 300 in my opinion isn’t happening. The tracking is glitchy, screen is blurry, and there aren’t as many games as the competition so 300 is too much of a asking price for one of these. That being said those really are they only faults it has. The game library while limited is great and only a few games REALLY have the tracking problem bad. Plus there’s a cinematic mode where you can play any video games in and it’s like being in a pitch black room with a new 80 inch tv. So in the end if you want VR, but don’t have the money to afford the top class stuff and don’t have a good PC this is your only and best option.Read full review...
