Walkman Nostalgia done right
Portable DAP that also works as a USB DAC. Great physical controls reminiscent of the Sony Walkman of old, even has a tape UI for when you are feeling nostalgic. Since this is an Android based player, apps like Spotify, Tidal or Apple Music work for streaming your favorite Lossless tracks.
I would use this as a a DAP only and not try to use it as a media consumption device. Sure YouTube is preloaded on it, but I'm sure any modern phone will have better colors/brightness and screen. If you are concerned that the UI is slow, don't be. Just turn off the animations in your settings and you are good to go.
This is the Japanese version of the ZX700. That means high gain output is included. I have used this with Sony Link Bud S, Sony MDR V6 and Sony IER M9s and the music comes out clear, nuanced and beautiful.

Positives: Well made - very good sound - good battery life - doesn't get hot - lots of sound adjustments to play with - with high gain the volume is perfectly adequate 90% of the time - but a little short for the 10% of times you want to blow your brains out.
Negatives - The screen tactile response is pretty laggy.

This thing sounds incredible. Ease of use. Battery is a step up from Sony's 500 series, but high res tracks devour juice-- no getting around it. This Japanese version has no pesty volume lock so it can drive high reasonably high impedence headphones.

This is my first portable DAC purchase, so I haven't been able to compare it to other products. I believe this little thing does what it says on the packet. I'm not sure if it actually enhances the sound by a lot but it sure does amplify it....more testing & eventually comparisons to follow but for now I'm really happy with it. It even comes with both OTG cables but I wish the instructions were in English. Still, I managed to work it out. Great price, so I actually ordered 2.
