Fantastic series.

Once you get used to the way they speak, it's a thrill ride all the way with fantastic bad guys, good guys all around! Have to watch out for the nudity though if you're viewing with young children....Read full review...

Excellent

Not your father's Spartacus, but for those that enjoy this genre it goes into detail of life in Rome during these times at it's rise and certainly not for children. It shows people the women were as hard as thr men when it came yo the fights with the gladiators. It arrived early a big plus and the price was great. I highly recommend.Read full review...

Fantastic... Epic... Brilliant...

Though brutal and bloody (to an extreme), I thought Spartacus was beautifully shot and wonderfully portrayed. I enjoy everything about it: the unexpected way it's filmed, the excellent cast, and the phenomenal graphics. It is dark and unapologetic with a great story. Whether the story told here is historically accurate or not, I don't know, but Spartacus: Blood and Sand is an inspiring tale about a man trapped in the most impossible situation with unbearable odds placed against him. He is determined and willing to fight to the death day after day to avenge the wrongs done to him and the wrongs done to his wife... If you cant stomach some pretty graphic violence, nudity, and language: beware, but I think the story makes it worth it... Very, very well done.Read full review...

If you like nudity and blood - it's perfect

I've been a fan of Roman history since... forever.

Is the series historically accurate? I'm not sure, but I suspect it *might* have been. (We really haven't gotten into the 'revolt' yet.)

The bloody special effects may offend some viewers. I was fascinated and enjoyed them.

The scene where Spartacus was ordered to kill his friend struck me as quite believable for all the different sides. (And moved me to tears.) It was an excellent reminder of how Romans viewed their slaves... Expendable and replaceable. (Reminds me of GE with its employees.)

If you have the least interest in ancient Rome - and can take the blood and gore - I highly recommend the DVD.

Like 300 but more T&A Too Bad Whitfield is out

Well, I have to say with a TV budget this series emulated the kind of battlescenes that played out in 300 pretty well. It is definitely made in that same style, very graphic, artistic and violent. The casting is excellent, story good with twists and turns and enough swordplay and sex to delight the most depraved among us. Sadly this series may be done before it is started with the lead man that plays Spartacus now dropped due to a recurring non Hodgekins Lymphoma cancer ailment. I wish him well and the series well, and hope that he can overcome his sickness like Micheal C. Hall did all while playing Dexter. I hope that Starz understands that he (Andy Whitfield) is part of the equation that made the whole thing work. If not the 6 part prequel may well be the last we see from this great series. So long season 2, we all wish that you would have been created.Read full review...

SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND WAS FIERCE!

I really love this series because it was so good! It had everything you want in a great movie: Great plots, great acting, great fight scenes, sex, costumes, lust, betrayal and nudity. This movie had it all. But more importantly, you saw this man who cared about his people, who was forced to do the right thing to try and save his people, his wife especially only to ends up as a slave and his wife Sura made to be a slave, too. And because of his wife and his love for her (his will so strong), he did everything to stay alive just to be with her again. And became the Great Spartacus. But being under the rule of Lucretia and Quintus Batiatus, who treat their slaves like toys for mere bargain and pleasure is more than any human being could bear. The Batiatus Family will do what ever it takes to gain wealth, favor and patronage with the upper class Romans. Crixus is the other noble gladiator who is Spartacus's rival and the lover of Lucretia but his heart belongs to someone else. I also liked Doctore, played by Peter Mensah. His character was very strong and noble. There is so much going on that you will have to see it. It's everything and more. I really loved Andy Whitfield who played Spartacus he did a great job and I was saddened by his passing. He did a wonderful job with his portrayal and he will be missed by his fans and those who knew him. I highly recommend this movie and tell everyone I know about. Yes, it's that good.Read full review...
