Value +++ film, a pleasant little pickup needing more exposure to audiences

With some classy acting from too little seen faces, and supporting special effects that don't let the cast or audiences down, Splice was one of those little gems you unexpectedly stumble upon that could have benefited well from greater advertising exposure. I had to buy the movie after a single only viewing of the jacket, I mean really, who can look at its front cover and not be intrigued enough to not want to investigate further? As indicated already you'll be more than satisfied with the acting and the effects team have done well enough that an open mind wouldn't consider the plot and it's presentation to be possible under the right conditions. The only detrimental feature that comes to mind has more to do with the production of the movie, without providing a spoiler I'd just like to say that the sequel has been too long awaiting and is more than overdue. If you've previously enjoyed films such as Species (the original film but not necessarily any of the sequels that depend significantly on viewer' tastes) or other titles which use the tampering of the human genome then Splice should definitely be on your watch list: credit goes out to the story teller in this instance, Splice further benefits from its purely human tampering with genetics in existence and not from alien molding of genetics which normally supply the backbone for these kinds of movies; the latter tending to make up at least 90% of the titles available. Thus, if your like me and find the front cover intriguing and the rear jacket tantalising enough to want to investigate further, then be sure to buy your copy because if your tastes are anything like mine you will be grateful and go away from the viewing happy, not discussing all the places in the film which left you wanting.Read full review...
