Get the Stryker, you won’t regret it.
The 955 is an amazing radio. If you can score a version 1 they are even better. I have a few of each and they are great. Super stable, loud on AM. And the V1s take well to HiFi upgrades and audio compression modifications. Caveat here, use the best tech you can find. There’s a few that specialize in the Strykers. If you want to spend the cash monies, can’t go wrong with a 955. Or even a v1 655 for that matter. Read full review...

Great radio.... Modulation monster on AM and SSB
This is a great radio! The conversion is marked on the board with an arrow. 1 resistor removal is all it takes (very small). Look to AM ANL VR for modulation. Love this radio, spot on frequency. Great radio and loud audio.
This radio is the best of both worlds. Once converted (surface mount resistor on board in front of radio with and arrow pointing to it) is removed, it’s open to 24 MHz all the way up to 30MHz. Turn up the AM modulation and leave the SSB adjustments alone. This radio is loud and has some hellacious audio behind it. Also preforms well on 10 meter SSB. Would recommend that you set the clarifier as unlocked on both RX and TX. All in all it’s a great radio and would highly recommend this radio to anyone who’s looking for both AM and SSB performance. The Stryker 955 is one of the best radios I have . Nice looking radio , I like the color options of the screen , it is not the highest power radio I own but very clear output and receive . I had it converted and alined on freq. I did not have it peaked up , they all ready put out 60/70 watts .when you peak them up all you do is shorten the life of the finals . Found unit to be built solid, a lot of whistles and bells. Well pleased with unit. However being first time ham operator would of been nice if the operators manual would describe it's different functions and how to access them. Manual that comes with it is very brief.
