This fixed my overheating issue as well as the hot AC problem.

Recently my 2011 mini overheated. I thought it was something major, but it all liquids were up to level and nothing appeared to be wrong. I let the car cool down before driving it again. Then I realized that the AC was not cooling unless I was moving so I thought perhaps it needed coolant. I purchased some of that and put some in the car, nothing, still no cool air. I then noticed that my radiator fan was not running when the AC was, that gave it away. Turns out it was bad because when your AC is on and your car is idle, the radiator fan should be running, but it wasn't. I checked the fuses, but nothing was wrong there, all was well. I found this fan on ebay from a local reseller and i got it two days later!

I installed it with only one little hiccup. I didn't notice that the housing on this fan did not match the old one. Good thing they are swappable so I did just that, swapped the housing from the old to the new and bam! Perfect. Now the car is not overheating and the AC is running nice and cool again.

Long story short. Car overheated, AC was blowing cold only when moving, hot when idle. I checked all possible problems and it turned out to be the fan. It's good to learn how to diagnose these things to avoid a big bill at the repair shop. I was able to swap this myself with little effort. If you like working with your hands you'll have no trouble doing it yourself. You just need some simple tools.
