Convenient and easy setup

This product is great when you want to set up a wired connection and not have to run cable, you simply plug everything in and hit the sync button and it's working. This is the AV500 so it doesn't give blazing fast speed but it's enough for your typical internet activities.

I did have some issues with it randomly disconnecting for a while but I updated the firmware from their site and it hasn't happened since. The utility they have you download for the update has an option to turn off power saving mode if it continues to be a problem, which I haven't had to do.

All in all TP-Link AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter does everything I want it to, and it makes me wonder why I didn't opt for an AV ethernet adapter any sooner.

Ok product

I have this connected to my laptop docking station in my downstairs office and my router is upstairs, I don't believe they are on the same circuit so the speeds are not what I expected, I used the TP link utility to update the firmware on the units and set it to keep them on even when my laptop is powered off but almost every time I boot up my machine I have to unplug and then plug the unit back in to get a connection. I'm not sure if it's my network or just the nature of these units. The increased speed that I am getting is not that much more than I was getting with the wireless. It could be just my setup. I am sure this is ideal for some people, depending on how their house is wired but the benefits for me do not outweigh the frustration of having to unplug and replug every bootupRead full review...

IT DOES THE JOB IT'S DESIGNED TO DO.

There's nothing complicated about setting it up and it serves the purpose quite well. If you need to have a direct network connection instead of using WIFI, this is a fantastic solution. You do not need to drill holes or run cables. The Powerline allows your house wiring to be the conductor for your network. The nice part is that the TP Link has a sleep mode to reduce power consumption when idle. They say you can't use it on a power strip, but that's only when surge protection is present. I have both ends connected to un-protected power strips and they work perfectly. The AV 500 proved to be a reliable no hassle solution for me.Read full review...

Next thing to a direct connection!

I was having trouble with Wi-Fi reaching my Roku box in a far corner of the house, and wireless 'range extenders' did little to help the situation. A friend recommended a PLC (Power Line Carrier) approach and I found this pair of TP-Link units on eBay at a virtual giveaway price. I just plugged them in and they found each other instantly, and now the Roku performs as if it's wired directly to a LAN port on the router. I got a second pair and used one as a Wi-Fi alternative or backup to my main computer, and was able to add it to the PLC 'network' with no problems. It does not seem to matter which leg of the AC mains these are on, they give a solid connection even with all the motors, light dimmers, etc. that generate noise. Very impressive!Read full review...

Works well, really depends on location of each unit

I got these units to add a wired network for my Playstation 4, since the wifi sucks so hard on the Sony consoles. I first set up the "sending" (network side) unit in one location of the house, and the "receiving" (PS4 side) next to that. They synced immediately, but the throughput was pretty terrible. I then relocated the "sending" side to another part of the house, and the performance went up a lot. I'm quite happy, and for the $25 I paid, well worth it. =)Read full review...

Great value for Powerline in a compact and easy to use package.

it's a solid product paired with decent software. I only took a star off because of the software to manage it. I had setup naming and customizing each unit but somehow after adding this last pair (total 6) i lost all customization of names on each unit and setting.Read full review...

Best way to have a higher level of internet performance nearly anywhere in your home

I have been successfully using the 200 Mbps model of this power line adapter and was glad to see that the 500 Mbps model was available at the same price as the 200 when I bought it last year. All I had to do was plug each module in near where I wanted to use them and they self authorized each other within seconds and were working right away. AND... the 200 Mbps modules worked with these 500 Mbps modules without any problems. This is the best way to get near maximum network throughput with out drilling holes in your home and running LONG Cat 5e cables all over the place. I did put one of these 500 Mbps modules nearest the router and had it be the main connection to my in-house power line system in hopes that the higher performing module would improve the 200 Mbps modules. I have not tested this but am thinking it couldn't have hurt either. I not have one 500 Mbps, and two 200 Mbps modules running in my home with great success. RDHRead full review...

Never thought it so easy.

Never thought it would be so easy, and that it would perform so flawlessly. I installed the two units with the cables that were included, and now have a no-worries link to my server.

No more waiting for loading, or for the constant skips I had before with Hulu or YouTube.

Excellent product, I could not be any happier.

An inexpensive solution, easy to install, tech support varies in quality.

Set up instructions from TP-Link are rather general, but usually work. Linking two units can be easy, but I've have problems connection a Samsung DVD via ethernet to my router.
Tech support (non-native English speakers) persons don't seem to understand the problem and propose general solutions (e.g. reset, unplug and plug in, etc.) Can't seem to find the correct Gateway address (IP, etc. are ok).Read full review...
