TP LInk

This is from a family of great products that I much appreciate. This one, though, falls short in the easy to use category. Finding the log on site or the software to use with it, seemingly, nothing works or can be found. TP Link is found to be selling their site for this router. I finally fumbled upon a computer that volunteered a site after a router re-set, I wonder how many folks know when or how to do that? So, if you want a good travel router this is OK but it locks into just one computer at a time. After that computer you need to go throughout the re-set again. A little rough on the computer "user", easy for the "road warrior" who has probably seen it all, before.Read full review...

Easy to use, but slow. Won't connect to Xfinity hotspot.

This travel router is compact and attractive. However, when using it as a repeater, it tests pretty darn slow, compared to a direct connection.
Also, it won't pass-through to a login page (I was connecting to an Xfinity hotspot). I contacted TP-Link technical support, they were great--very quick to get a real person on the phone. But they told me the device will not perform that function.Read full review...

Chinese version is good value for money, but cannot use English firmware.

TP-LINK's website describes the wireless access point (AP) mode in which the TL-WR702N works out-of-the-box as transforming “wired Internet access into wireless so that multiple devices can share the Internet”. Although it might be obvious to a network-savvy user, TP-LINK does not point out that this is only the case where the LAN or router to which the TL-WR702N is connected contains a DHCP server that is configured to supply multiple IP addresses automatically across the same network segment. I bought this device to provide wireless access for multiple devices in a LAN that allocates a fixed IP address to each network segment, so needed to re-configure the TL-WR702N into router mode.

If you cannot read Chinese and are purchasing a green-coloured TL-WR702N for around US$25, I suggest that you check carefully whether you are purchasing a version with Chinese-language interface. Before I purchased such a TL-WR702N, I had assumed that it would be possible to install the English-language firmware for the same version (1.0), but this turns out to be impossible. Other users have found that that even upgrading the Chinese-language firmware is surprisingly difficult. So it was a blow when my seller didn't supply me with English language instructions as promised, since translating chunks of the user interface from Chinese to English greatly slowed down the process of configuration. The only compensation is that I have now learned the simplified Chinese character for network!

Good Unit For the Price

I used as a AP client for my home alarm system and it worked perfect!
It can be configured as a Router, Bridge, Repeater, AP, AP Client. Can run off your USB port or the AC adapter that comes with it.

Can't beat it for the price.

Using this as a repeater on a GNU/Linux OS, the signal strength is incredib

Using this as a repeater on a GNU/Linux OS, the signal strength is incredible. I'm on the other side of a very big building, and behind several walls - 100% signal strength here!

Having never done this before, the setup took a few hours, but with the help of the included .PDF instructions (found on the CD, I had to dig for it because .exe doesn't work on linux) and the website and the customer service hotline, I figured it out! So let me make this super quick for you:

1. Do the setup on a wired connection! Use the ethernet cable.

2. You have to know how to go to Network Settings and find the IPv4 settings. Manually add the addresses as follows: Address: 192.168.0.103 (the guide says 192.168.0.10 but only 103 works for me!) Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.0.254

3. Then go through Quick Setup and select Repeater Mode. Click next, then select Survey. Click the "Connect" link next to the wifi you want to connect to. Make sure to enter the same security settings and password as the wifi you're connecting to. Click next, then reboot.

4. Then you have to reverse the IPv4 settings, back to DHCP enabled. Make sure this is the case for both wireless and wired connections.

5. Try to go to google.com or something. See if it works.

6. If that does not work, go back to 192.168.0.254 and click Wireless (Wireless Settings). Make sure the security options and password are correct. Then save the settings and reboot. You should be online now, with a super strong signal!

Hope this helps.

I set this up on my laptop. My tablet can also connect to the wifi, hence both benefit from the strong signal. I've never loved a router until I found this one. It is tiny and versatile. Awesome!

Product is easy to use

The product is small and compact. It is good to use when traveling takes up very little space. It can be used as a bridge or direct connect. Worth the money if you are looking for a small rotor.

Use with my laptop

I use this router set up with a Chromecast plugin for travel. I can then set up Chromecast to work with my laptop flawlessly in a few minutes in a hotel or motel to get Internet TV that I have on my computer. Works very well and is so small I can easily put into my laptop carrying case.Read full review...

Great Little Router

I have two of these, and use both as a client to provide ethernet connections to a Blu-ray player and a DVR that don't have wireless capability. They are easy to set up, and reliable. I have had one for about 2 years, and the other for just a few weeks. They are small, use very little power, and are a great value for the money.Read full review...

Great little unit, Works Great, Price is right

This little gem works like a charm. It was a refurbished unit, but looks and looks just like new. Comes with power supply, cables and small CD with instructions and program. I use it to wirelessly connect an 8-port switch to my home router. The only catch is that you need a computer to set it up to access the router you will be using. Key is reading carefully how to set it up; once you have it setup for your link to the router it just keeps working. So, for a home it is a one time thing; however, if you used it for travel you will have to set it up for each router you connect to. Using this unit, the 8-port switch I wirelessly connect 3 Arduino boards used for home control to the Internet.Read full review...

Excellent product for the price.

I'm really impressed with the product. It works. See, I had a problem with my old HP Officejet 7410 All-in-one printer, cannot connect to Netgear Nighthawk R6900. The HP 7410 has the older wireless adapter. With this product everything is working great again. It's worth the money. Don't have to "junk" my HP 7410.Read full review...
