Serves all my present photo needs

It is nice to have a telephoto lens with automatic focus. It helps me become better acquainted with my relatively new camera. I am just getting started with this new lens. Will be taking it on a trip next week to really test it. So far I am very pleased with it.Read full review...

Impressive Budget Superzoom.

I LOVE it!! I had considered the Nikon 55-300 and Sigma 18-250 also. This lens looked like the better option. I am so happy I chose this.
Taken lots of shots and really impressed!
Focuses really quickly (33% faster than my kit lenses), really sharp and was amazed my on-camera flash covers the full frame.
I have a Nikon D5200 and it complements it perfectly.
It bought a used one which is in like new condition.
I also like that it is a weighty lens which matches the camera body's weight really well.
I took some shots with on-board flash and was amazed that the flash covered all areas.
The VR is great. Took some shots at 1/60th second and they are nice and sharp.
The lens creep is crazy from 55mm on, lol!! but I can live with that.
AF motor is really quiet.

Great Lens

I upgraded my Nikon Camera and wanted a newer lens...I love the Tamron lenses so I sold my 18-250 and purchased the 18-270, a newer and more powerful lens on Ebay...have used it in the field and it is more than great, takes wonderful pics...with the range, I miss out on very little...it could be a bit lighter but once you get used to it, no problem ...very happy with my new setup...thanx Tamron....Ron TRead full review...

Lightweight all-in-one lens great for casual photographers

I am getting back into photography after many years - my last serious camera was a Minolta XE1 35 mm. I purchased a Nikon body but was unhappy with 18-55mm lens that came with it - it wasn't flexible enough to handle general needs of people portraits, candids, and landscapes. I tried a moderately priced Nikon zoom which took excellent pictures but was short to mid telephoto and couldn't take a wide angle shot. I disliked carrying two lenses and switching them. After some research I settled upon the Tamron, which was at a good price point and has both wide angle and moderate telephoto capabilities. I'm happy with the purchase so far. I don;t have to change lenses to get the pictures I want. I was at a party with family and children and was able to get pictures of large groups and candids of individuals without being obtrusive. I was a little concerned about picture quality - it turns out that the pictures look sharp and clear at any magnification. The lens is easy to use and the autofocus is smooth and fast, just pick the focal lens and the lens does the rest. The lens is light and short, making it easy to carry, point and swing - it's MUH lighter than a Nikon zoom lens I had. I've used the Tamron for a couple of months now and have enjoyed it immensely - I will continue to use it as my go to lens and don;t see any reason why I would want another. Read full review...

Good value

Nothing high end, but a good value lens. Great range, easy to use. Build is nice quality. Extreme cropping can show colors around objects, depends largely on the lighting and composition. But for a travel lens it should be about all you need.Read full review...

my favourite all-in one everyday lens.

This is my second Tamron 18-270mm lens, My first one was for my Nikon DSLR. I absolutely love the focal range from wide to telephoto which enables me to do all the kinds of shooting I need. I am so impressed with the image quality throughout its focal range that I decided to purchase exactly the same lens for my new Canon DSLR. I would highly recommend this lens if you want a good lens without breaking the bank.Read full review...

Great, versatile, affordable lens

If you're looking for a great all-around lens, this is it. I was a little skeptical going into it, but was tired of missing a shot because I wanted to change lenses. I read the technical reviews available on several websites and realize that when a lens is designed to be everything it will sacrifice performance in some areas. So far, in practice, I am completely satisfied. It is a little slow in focusing, but that hasn't caused me any trouble yet. The lens will creep if pointed down without the lock on, but so do most big zooms. If you photograph many grids, you might notice the distortion toward either extreme, but so far my shots spanning the zoom range have not produced any noticeable or offensive distortion (subject and composition will affect this). The lens size is rather amazing since it's not much different from the D3100 18-55 kit lens... that I will never use again (no hard feelings toward the Nikon lens, just no reason to use it with this one). I have been satisfied with the bokeh when the shot is such that it should yield some. My other reference points are a Nikon 70-300/f3.5 and prime 35/f1.8 (plus the 18-55 kit), used on a D3100 and 5100.Read full review...

Good all in one lens for what I was needing.

Good all in one lens. I was looking for something versatile for my outdoor photography. I did not rate this 5 stars because the lens seems to be a little dark when it comes to the pictures. I had heard that from other people also. Just have to try a little harder to get the right adjustments.Read full review...

Perfect for party photography.

I'm an amateur photographer that does children's party photography. Switching between my zoom lens and my regular lens was just not practical in a party setting when every second means the difference between getting the kid smiling and happy or dull-faced or sad. When I heard about this lens, I knew I had to have it. Many of the professional photographers that wrote reviews online when I researched said that because it was a "jack of all trades" that it wasn't good at any one thing. I disagree. I think that the lens is excellent for what I use it for. I love being able to take a zoomed in shot with a blurry background and zoom out for an all-encompassing shot while standing in the same spot and not being too invasive to the kids. It's pretty heavy compared to my other lenses (although it says it's lighter than the 2008 model!) and I wasn't able to get accidental coverage on it since I bought it on ebay. I also noticed that it's ever so slightly slower to focus than my other lenses, but it's so slight that it's not a deal-breaker. I would say those are the only drawbacks!Read full review...
