Great book!

While most people scoff when they see me reading these books, there are some that don't. This review is for those with open minds and curiosity. I was exposed to this series by a family member and could not set it down. There is an internal struggle within the characters that is evident clearly in the writing and emotion conveyed to the reader.

Sure, it's labeled as erotica. And most of us picture the "tawdry" paperback novels sitting alone on the shelves or only read by meek house-wives looking for adventure when we hear that genre of books. I have never read something that makes me think as deeply on human emotion as this book does. Does that make me weird? Perhaps. But it also makes me read them again and again and again. I'm just happy I now have my own copy to read and don't have to keep borrowing them.

Trust me, no one writes like Anne Rice and her straight up depiction of the subtle romance and sexual tension of the vampire novels explodes into something beautiful in these books. You never really know yourself until you are stripped of you preconceptions of the world and you. That's what she does. and you love her for it.

And if you like these, try to find copies of "The Marketplace."

Sleeping Beauty

I bought this book because I've heard good things about it for years. Once I received it I read through it in two days as I got hooked quickly into the story. I liked it well enough to purchase the other two and they will be arriving shortly.

Quoting similar to other reviewers, this book is for adults only and would be interesting to someone in the BDSM lifestyle or someone who is curious about the lifestyle. This book would provide much insight as to how a Dominate/Top would cleverly torture, tease, and tantalize a slave/sub. There is also great insight to the struggle of how a slave/sub would have to give up and submit their body, mind, and soul to please their owner.

The beginning of the book is somewhat similar to the original sleeping beauty…somewhat.

A beautiful princess, age 15, has fallen into a deep sleep from being pricked on her finger. Her entire kingdom fell into a silent slumber for 100 years due to the curse that befell Beauty.

A brave young Price, age 18, fights his way through the thorns to find the telltale princess sleeping Beauty that he has heard of his entire life. The Prince arrives and searches quickly through the sleeping kingdom and finds the treasure he has been seeking…. Beauty. The Prince is so proud of himself and so enamored with her youthful appearance that he awakes her with…a kiss?

I hope you enjoy!

Only a hint of what's to come.

This book was so erotically compelling... but takes a certain open-mindedness of the reader to accept the content. An explicit fantasy / fairy-tail (gone x-rated) of dominance and subservience... pain and pleasure (and the fine-line between them). Very erotic. Very thought provoking. Almost a "training manual" for anyone who's thought about exploring this type of relationship and sexual behavior. I enjoyed the read VERY much. Very HOT.Read full review...

The Claiming Of Sleeping Beauty - Awesome Book!

What I love about this book is, the way Ann Rice writes it. So descriptive.
She's so clear, and vivid you picture exactly what she describes in her book
in your mind and YOU'RE THERE! You are invovled. She's captivating! She
pulls you in and it seems you are part of it. Not like watching a movie, but
a participant. I've never felt so involved in a book before. Once you start
the book, you just can't put it down. I love the time era as well. I can
truly say, Ann Rice is spectacular! and I'll continue reading her books and
can't wait for part 2 and 3 of this series!

Thank-you,

Lisa

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice

well, now, I just don't know..........This is a beautiful book, written by an artist with a unique style. The problem is the content. While erotic in nature, it's a little creepy in that it does not leave Beauty a choice. Most S & M relationships involve choice, and surrender (by choice). I could never help feeling like this girl was just being raped. Raped awake and then again and again. I just don't know. Brilliant but disturbing. But I guess that was the whole point!Read full review...

a great set of 3 books

If you are into BDSM these books are a must!Even if you aren't.. The insight they provide is relevant to the life of a submissive in the lifestyle. So if you are a submissive or are thinking about getting into the lifestyle, I would def recommend these books as no one writes better than Anne Rice Roquelaure.
You must read all 3! They are erotic in every sense of the word.

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice

This is a well written sexually explicit fantasy version of story of Sleeping Beauty. It is a very different adaptation to a story we all know from our childhood. Ann Rice tells this story in a very unique way and its not for children in this version! It is a good read. Quite interesting and very suspenseful with one twist after another.Read full review...
