Humble Beginnings.

This release is really for die-hard Doors fans. No heavy rock/metal here, just relaxed and calm '60s music (which I struggle to categorise; rock, blues, psychedelic, jazz, progressive or all inclusive). Performance is excellent, in true Doors fashion, but the sound quality is disappointing as the recording doesn't seem to re-mastered thus offering just the original production, leaving much to be desired. The demise of this amazing band was a huge loss to the music scene.Read full review...

The Doors Early and Live in San Francisco

Rough, raw, and very live - this early recording of The Doors in San Francisco is an interesting period piece. All the tracks from The Doors and Strange Days albums are here - but with almost no audience reaction apart from polite applause after each song. So different to the wild screaming on later live offerings - this one has a small-time club feeling, which actually makes a nice change. You get a sense of where The Doors came from and this is pure rhythm and blues White Boy style (Paul Butterfield etc.)The energy, musicianship and inventiveness is all here on this recording though and I recommend you PLAY IT LOUD to get the full club effect. If you're a Doors fan, you'll love this one.Read full review...
