La conferma di una nuova futura icona della musica POP

Sulla scia di "The Fame", primo album di Lady Gaga, "The Fame Monster" è sicuramente un degno proseguo. Con sonorità più mature e curate rispetto al precedente lavoro si distinge per la sua originalità. Oltre ai singoli ("Bad romance", "Telephone (feat. Beyoncé)" e "Alejandro") che l'hanno trainato per quasi un anno ai vertici delle classifiche di mezzo mondo, altrettanto suggestive sono le atmosfere "oscure" di "Dance in the dark" (quarto singolo esclusivo al mercato digitale su iTunes), con l'intro che fa il verso ai Depeche Mode a cavallo tra la fine degli anni Ottanta e i primi anni Novanta; "Speechless" richiama le vecchie ballate glam rock (già "sperimentate" in "The Fame" con "Brown Eyes"), questa volta con un brano dedicato al padre in un momento particolarmente toccante della sua vita, in un vortice misto tra malinconia e romanticismo; a chiudere il disco una violenta e trascinante "Theeth" che invita l'ascoltatore a mostrare appunto i suoi "denti", tra doppi sensi e dichiarazioni che dedicherà poi ai suoi "Little Monster" durante i suoi live show ("My religion is you - La mia religione siete voi" canta quasi sussurrando con voce sensuale tra i suoi versi).
Un album (nato in origine come un EP di accompagnamento alla ri-edizione di "The Fame", solo 8 brani, ma che riesce comunque a essere un disco a sé) che segna il primo passo verso una maturità artistica già dimostrata in passato, nonostante fosse un passato veramente prossimo.
