Stunning performances by Christian Bale & Tong Dawei (of "If You Are The One" fame), and a gripping plot, based on real life events from 1937 during the Sino-Japanese war. Scenes were so lifelike I FELT the anguish. This film is history brought to life displaying sacrifice, honour and showcasing some of the atrocities of war. Superb cinematography with special effects that are believable. Definitely NOT a formulaic plot, and an ending that was NOT typical Hollywood-style. Fantastic.Read full review...
