To understand the mindset of Muslims

I bought this translation of the Koran so I could better understand the mindset of the followers of this text. I will declare myself now as non religious; I am in fact an atheist. I do not believe in the supernatural or a personal god.

I needed to buy a translation of the Koran that was written by someone who was fully conversant with Arabic but not a Muslim.I also needed the translation to be literal and not coloured by bias. The author, Dawood, who is Jewish, lives in Britain and was originally from Iraq. After reading online reviews of this particular translation I decided to purchase it.

This translation of the Koran met my expectations and I recommend this version to those who want to attempt to comprehend the thinking of many Muslims, radical or otherwise.

For me the Koranic text is steeped in contradiction and superstition. My negative views of Islam have been reinforced by this text and I see Islam as a seriously potential danger to progressive thinkers throughout the world.

Fallible men, not gods, created this text.

I am not sorry I read the Koran but I am saddened that many people in this modern world are still influenced by books of superstitious fantasy.
