PS3 Lord of the Rings: Conquest

Fantastic! It's about time Lord of he Rings, "LOTR" made it to the PS3 platform with a new installment! Worth every penny spent! As a family we all enjoyed the game, it was fun to play through the different level stages to upgrade and unlock hidden character features, and ultimately play the game as the bad guys, and the good...although there are things about playing as the evil dark things that is creepy at times, especially the killing of the Hobbits...our teenagers thought it was cool, but some players of the game may want to screen the Hobbit part...some small children might be tramatised!?! This new twist on LOTR is fun and keeps the game play going on and on once the game has been beatin...which adds continued value for the money! As typical with LOTR the multiplayer fun continues with a variety of characters.

Fantastic!!!...color graphics and 3D rendering of the environments!!!...Much new material that is a welcomed addition to the game play also!!! Hard to find many complaints with this game. A good buy for value entertainment that is fun for everybody who is a fan of LOTR!!! As always however, it is suggested to try a free demo and/or rental version to see if the game suits your taste...you know, different strokes for different folks!?! As stated...if you are a fan of LOTR...and have been waiting for it to come out on PS3...then this game is worth adding to your gaming collection! Lots of fun!

This game is great for any LOTR fan. You get to play as Frodo, Eowyn, and Elrond which isn't possible in some of the other games. You even get to pick The Shire, Rivendell, or Mount Doom as an arena and play however you'd like! Very cool.Read full review...

A Battlefront Clone Gone Wrong

The Lord of the Rings Conquest is a game based on the epic battles of the Lord of the Rings movies. Sound familiar? Yes, yes it does. That is because the exact same developer made Star Wars Battlefront, based on the exact same idea, except based on Star Wars. The game really is identical, with class selection, battlefields from the movies, heroes, and even "vehicles." The only real difference that instead of fighting in a galaxy far far away and using blaster rifles, it plays in Middle Earth and uses swords and bows and arrows.
Now, don't get me wrong. Lord of the Rings Conquest is a good game. It has outstanding graphics and good gameplay. As a matter of fact, the gameplay really only has one big flaw, and that is the scout unit. The scout unit can turn invisible and walk up behind a person and kill them in one deadly blow that is unblockable. Now, its great to dish out these "backstabs," but its not fun at all to be on the recieving end of them. For example, one time I had just recieved a hero, Aragorn, and was getting ready to kick some major orc tail, but, just as I had respawned, an orc backstabbed me, and I lost the battle because of it.
Even with the backstab flaw, the game still is passable, and for around $19.99, its a great buy. Any more than this, unless you are a die hard LOTR fan, its probably a bit too much to pay.Read full review...

Lord of the Rings fans must have!

This game is for all the avid lord of the rings fan who have wanted to take part in the large scale battles of the movie. Although it is not primarily fought with the heroes of the movies, the 4 archetypes of classes give you a variety of playing style to be the type of character you want to be. Do not look for a life changing gaming experience, but every LotR fan should have this game. Be it Gimley fighting trolls, Gandalf fighting Sarumon, or a Treat stomping goblins, This game is perfect for fulfilling your LotR fantasy. The multiplayer is fun in small portions but is not something to replace my time spent on other multiplayer online games on my PS3.Read full review...

Lord of the Letdown: Flop Fest

Originally I had hoped to play this game and platinum it. However, it is an inferior product, and I feel bad that it even bears the LOTR name. The single player campaign is dull, unimaginative and monotonous; before I finished playing through it once, I found myself bored with the game.

The cut scenes do feature Hugo Weaving’s (Lord Eldenrod) voice, but they are extremely wordy. This detracts from the game.

The online multiplayer is even worse. The graphics stink, and the world you interact with feels linear and stiff. The camera doesn’t follow you well, especially when you begin fighting enemies in corners or against walls. You cannot see what you’re doing, and guess what? You die. Enemies kill you or you fall off cliff edges you didn’t know were there.

The controls feel awkward, especially during the “super”combo moves or when your character is knocked down. If your character goes down in the middle of 2-3 enemies, it just keeps getting hit and falling down over and over until it dies. You don’t even have a chance to get up. It’s very frustrating.

The character rendering looks like bad PS2 graphics. The backgrounds are dark and, in my opinion, depressing. Why should anyone spend 60-70 hours staring at environments that make him feel blue? No thanks.

LOTR: Conquest is pretty stiff. Do yourself a favor; rent it before you buy it. There is a reason this game is on the bargain rack here and at so many stores.Read full review...

Qn that top shelf level

I bought this because my 13 yo song begged me for days and totally expected it to end up another dead vid. game that no one plays within 2 weeks(like so many others) I am a sport game person mainly Madden but baseball basketball and race games make me tingle. I also like a good rpg eventhough that rings of a joke I have found two good ones, fallout 3 and elderscrolls 3 oblivion. this game is neither of those genre I almost feel its on par with old school arcade games such as golden axe as far as play. The graffix are great and you actually feel like you are incontroll of your character which is fairly rare for graffix this good, but the multi player online puts this up with gta4 and the like feeling like a super gauntlet teamwork experiance. I would say any gamer who is serious should include this on there shortlist of things to have on tap. BUY IT AND SMILE!!!!!Read full review...

Awesome,Great game collection.

A great game. To his time when it came out was ahead of his time. Today we see clear similarities and games with better graphics but this game is super fun, and in his time had an option to play online and you can play with a friend or your child a game or two against split-screen computer. Do not give it five stars because sometimes misses a pco handling car, sometimes they are failures graphs. For the rest it is excellent and recomendad.Read full review...

Awesome Game!

Used to play this all the time when I was younger, playing it now just brings back so many good memories and it's still just as fun. Great game. A must play if you're a fan of LOTR

Good Game

I like this game. However, it definitely not as great as his predecessors. This game has a gameplay mixed traditional Starwars Battlefronts with rip off Dynasty Warriors. So, if you like both series and is a LOTR fan, Conquest will be a great game for you. If you like some of these titles, it will be a okay game for you. Overall, This is a good game that above average. By the way, it is kinda short though. I do not recommend buying it with full price.Read full review...

Good Game, but avarege grafics.

A nice game! Who played Star Wars Battlefront for PS2 and love it (like me!) can play almost the same game with the storyline of The Lord of Rings. Medieval rack and slash games fans will love it, for sure!
But, if you are used to real nice grafics as the greatest games of PS3 (MG4, GTA4, Battlefiel2, CoD Modern Warfare 2), this is what you gonna dislike...
As I said, the game is good, but you will not taste the real power of PS3.Read full review...
