It's Lucy, but Not Love

The Lucy Show DVD is a sampling of the The Lucy Show, presenting it's "Best of". And actually it does have the best of the series. I bought this DVD collection because I remember watching the show as a child, and enjoyed it, although I could not remember any specific shows, only that I enjoyed it. As I watched it I did remember certain episodes.

If you are expecting I Love Lucy quality, then you will get bored pretty fast. The supporting cast and Lucy herself are not even close to the magic of the Ricardos and Mertzs. Even though Vivan Vance is in some of the earlier shows and comes back for a visit in a later one, her new character Viv, is not Ethel.

But, if you can make it through a few episodes, you might find that you actually enjoy it, in it's own right. Gale Gordon, who would have mad a terrible Fred Mertz (as originally hoped), makes a wonderful Mr. Mooney. The parade of old TV and Movie stars adds a flare and quality.

Lucy fans will enjoy it after they get past the "This isn't I Love Lucy mentality". I have actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would, having seen an episode or two previously. I bought it cheap and hoped for the best, and I got my money's worth and more. I am not a big Lucy fan, but appreciate her work.

This DVD is a good source to determine if you want to invest in the entire series DVDs.Read full review...

Wonderfuol, wonderful. What can I say but "I Love Lucy" I feel The Lucy Show was done in good taste considering her divorce from Desi Arnaz. I'm glad she went on to do her own thing after the divorce and I love that her own children share this with her. I always liked Ozzie and Harriet because it was a real family and made it easier to relate.Read full review...

Very entertaining!

Some episodes are black & white and some are color. Lucille Ball is always entertaining. We still haven't made it through all the episodes, but we have enjoyed what we've seen so far. We bought this product because my 10 year old daughter lover "I Love Lucy" and I wanted her to experience "The Lucy Show" also.Read full review...

Don't buy it. Doesn't work.

The DVD did not work in my machine. No picture only loud and bad noise. It's all regions, but didn't work in my USA machine.

what a great buy. hours of laughs and good quality of movie and sound. was a good purchase to add to my collection. if you need a lucy fix this is the dvd for you

The Lucy Show

True Lucille Ball fans will be glad to have this set. To me it's a let down after really enjoying the "I Love Lucy" series. Lucy just isn't as funny without Ricky.

My wife loves Lucille Ball, so naturally she loves these shows. We love to sit and watch them and laugh. Boy where are these shows now a days?
