This box set had me doing a strange interlude

Very happy obviously cause it's the marx brothers. I've seen older films remastered and was kinda disappointed that the quality wasn't any better. The sound went in and out. The piracy notices are annoying. I actually compared it to the original dvd release with two different players hooked up to the same 92" tv, can't really see the difference but you can hear the difference. Do I recommend it? Yes I do, and make sure you have it sent by hair mail!Read full review...

Looks gorgeous and finally, ANIMAL CRACKERS UNCUT!

Not much to say other than it is nice to finally have the five Paramount Marx Brothers movies looking as beautiful as they do here (THE COCOANUTS will probably never look better unless a 35mm nitrate print of some reels show up, but the sound is better than ever due to a complete set of soundtrack discs being used). The big news is the discovery of a complete nitrate print of ANIMAL CRACKERS, which means that for the first time since 1930, the film is complete, down to the missing line from "Hooray For Captain Spaulding" and Harpo whacking Margaret Irving on the ass. The commentaries are, for the most part, very educational, even if for some reason they did not have the foremost authority on the brothers, Joe Adamson, doing one of them. To sum up-if you love classic comedy, the brothers Marx and pre-code movies-GET THIS SET! Now, where is the missing footage to HORSE FEATHERS, for cryin' out loud?Read full review...

“Why a duck?”

I’m glad I finally upgraded my silver screen edition of the Paramount films, which were standard dvd quality to the blu ray edition! I have always loved the five earlier films and they look stunning in blu ray!! Read full review...

Brains and Humor in a Box

Classic early Marx Brothers having little story, occasional glimpses of Zeppo, linguistically twisted conversations between Groucho and Chico, and frenetic (unrelated) Harpo nonsense. A pure delight. Like The Three Stooges …only with Brains …and Humor.

AND then… Duck Soup which revealed a bit more depth and paved their way to MGM, Thalberg, and a second life.

Brilliant comedy. Great movie prints.

Years before alternative comedians discovered anarchic comedy, the Marx Brothers were doing a perfect ensemble version. I love it. Just fabulous to see prints of their movies in this quality.

The meaning of mayhem

The last fifteen or twenty minutes of the Leo McCarey film, Duck Soup, comprise one of the greatest sequences in all of Hollywood film. Not quite up to the standards of Cocteau, Bunuel or Bresson, but amazing that Hollywood let it happen Read full review...

Great set of movies that should be watched

Great set of movies that are underappreciated these days. I hope that if they make their way into the public domain that they will get a following that they are deserving of

The Marx Brothers were Geniuses.

The Marx Brothers films still hold up today. They'll be just as funny a hundred years from now. Their Wit will keep you in stitches hours on end.
