A pithy title leads the reader to an unforgettable hero.

This is the best-documented life available of Father Stanley Rother, the first American-born martyr recognized by the Roman Catholic Church. It is the compelling and appealing story of a man who grew up in an Oaklahoma farm family, served as a diocesan priest and eventually offered his life for the poorest of the poor in a Guatamalan mission. The book captures the personality, vocation and human struggle of a man who placed himself consciously in danger for the sake of his people. The imagery of the Good Shepherd permeates the life of a very ordinary man who became an extraordinary hero and role model. This book merits reading by many; this life merits being known by all. Blessed Stanley Rother is a man of peace and justice for all.Read full review...
