Highly Addictive Soap Opera!

I had never watched this while it was on TV. Even a few months ago, before I bought Season 1 to see if I would like it, I read Wikipedia about it and the lives of the characters sounded so convoluted that I was sure it would be a stupid show. And yet, curiosity won out & I have been addicted since the very first episode. The Vampire Diaries is a soap opera. The characters are very "eye candy" although I don't like Elena's whiny attitude. The story lines flow easily between each other. What I love about it is that everyone (at least on the show if not real life) are like a family and stick together, while the protagonists (Season 3 is the Mikaelson family of Original Vampires) frequently betray each other and stab each other in the back, literally.
Another stupid thing is that no one is ever stabbed in the heart, even though the show indicates that is where they are stabbed, its really the solar plexus. It makes me wonder about the intelligence of the producers, etc...

The first and second season were awesome. Vampires... who wouldn't love an immortal with a dark side? Seduction, Romance, Violence, Mild Adult Content, and a large dose of supernatural. Epic. No sparkling, not that there's anything wrong with sparkling. However this season was a little bit of a let down. Now that I've started watching Season 4 I know you must watch Season 3 or you will be lost. I own the first 3 Seasons and will own Season 4 as well. I love The Vampire Diaries. Owning it on DVD means I can watch it anytime!

I bought this 3rd season of The Vampire Diaries so that I can watch it again anytime I'm in the mood for a dose of supernatural fun. I now own the first three seasons on DVD and look forward to owning the 4th season on DVD.
This is one of the best television series to ever air.
Vampires, Werewolves, Hybrids, Witches, Vampire Hunters, and a few human best friends all living in a small town... I love watch them as they mature and grow into powerful adversaries, lovers, and killers.
