This movie has horrible reviews online, but as a literature teacher, I felt it had a good plot, the characters were well developed and it had a positive overall message and theme. The music was great, and until my son was watching it for a 4th time-I did not realize that Henry Mancini did the score/music. I disliked the fact that Tom and Jerry talked and as a child I had to rely on their actions (indirect characterization) to figure out what was going on. I disliked the fact that other characters were missing, specifically Spike, although there was a character like Spike (not sure if he is supposed to be him or not). I decided to buy this movie because my son wanted it, and he had 2 good weeks at school so it was a reward (he has obsessive compulsive disorder). AS adults, lets not get too carried away with ratings and lets remember that this is for children's enjoyment and to be shared with your family. There is mention of the mother dying and a little girl thinks she is suddenly orphaned, so there are themes that children should discuss with their parents. My son likes it, and to me if he likes it then I can overlook the flaws and let him enjoy it.Read full review...

Great movie

Movie came in timely manner. We had this in the 90s and loved it Long with the kids. Now my son again enjoys it with his daughter. Great movie.

Tom and Jerry - The Movie (DVD, 2002)

I purchased this movie for my 3 year old. He is a Huge Tom & Jerry fan, and has seen most of the Tom & Jerry movies. He was hooked on this one and another for awhile. This movie & the other “Blast off to mars” are different than most Tom & Jerry's for it’s a full length rather than a collection of short cartoons. Also the characters talk where as in the collections of short cartoon they don’t. I believe this difference is what my son liked and had him hooked for awhile.Read full review...
