Good, deep game; well worth its money. I enjoyed it, you could too

I bought this game partly due to my growing interest in the Tomb Raider series, and also as it turned out to be a prequel to Tomb Raider: Underworld which I had recently bought.

Having played Tomb Raider Anniversary prior to the purchase of either of these games, I was immediately familiar to the play and graphical style of Legend. One feature I liked (though in a few cases also hated) was the intricate nature of some of the puzzles. One that I hated was figuring out how to move two blocks to a significantly higher platform to open a door; whilst one that I liked and found very interesting was not long after, where you could take one of a few paths to paths to reach a treasure or progress through the tomb.

Another feature that took me a long time and annoyed me a lot was a boss fight halfway through the game. Once I knew the answer it didn't take long to finish.

In ways this game feels significantly better than Anniversary. I can't really compare it to other games due to them being a completely different genre, but I suppose for quality of this version of the game it feels like it is close to par with games like Gears of War for graphical quality and depth of story.

In summary: It's a great game, but not on the same level as some of the big hits like Halo. It may be on a lower level, but it is easily one of the best on that level.

Vintage Tomb Raider

Having found that the more recent Tomb Raider series were too difficult for me & too grim for my grandsons, I tried this relatively vintage edition, which I had missed after playing "Angel of Darkness". The game has excellent visuals, not too many 'prompts' & plays well. This Lara version looks a real 'poppet' & she has her back up team in radio contact. Much repetitive agility required, but it is fun. Good entertainment, especially as 'walkthrough' videos are available on YouTube when you get 'stuck'. Recommended.Read full review...
