Use Factory OEM parts of be warned!

the tailgate handle for this era of Sequoia is definitely a weak point. After having been through 3 aftermarket tailgate lift handles "better, because they're made from metal", I found this to be misleading. The metal in the handles actually bends faster than this hard ABS plastic will break. The original handle has a much better feel. The problem is when dust and grime build up in the cable and latch assembly, it requires much more force for the handle to pull the cable through. This is when these handles failRead full review...

Not All Metal

A broken door handle is a real nuisance. Replacing it is not that difficult, but you don’t want to do it too many times. That’s why I wanted an all-metal handle. It arrived quickly, and looked like a quick fix. Then I noticed that the handle is some type of plastic. When I tried to install it, it didn’t fit well, so I removed the handle from the lever mechanism and swapped it with the broken handle on my Sienna. Now it works again, but I’m not sure how long it will be until this new (plastic) handle breaks in the same place as the OEM (plastic) handle. If it’s not all metal, don’t list it as all metal.Read full review...

Should have bought this one in the first place

Purchased one if the metal ones sold here in ebay because thought it would be sturdier. I was wrong. It didn't last 4 months. So bought this one and my hatch is like new and opens real easy. Hubby installed it in a short amount of time. Much easier to install than the cheaper metal one.Read full review...

MUCH better than the aftermarket!!!

Purchased an aftermarket handle about 2 years ago from Amazon and it was a POS. Finally got tired of barely being able to open the door and ordered this part. Works MUCH better!!!!

"OEM" The only way to go.

OEM is the only way to go. I tried the cheeper all metal handles. It cost me by having to do the job twice. The OEM part fits right works smooth and the trim fits correctly. Its not metal but it works like it's supposed to.Read full review...

Much better price than OEM

The latch handle was listed as a metal piece, and the handle was, however, the actuator arm is still plastic. The actuator arm is the weak link of this piece. I was hoping that it would also be made of metal.Read full review...

Buy the OEM part..!

Replaced the handle with a knock off part first and it failed... again... Replaced it with the OEM part and it is great...! Stick with OEM and fix it right the first time.

The assembly bent after the first couple test pulls.

Unfortunately after I pulled everything apart and installed this latch the metal bent on the first 2 pulls and I'll have to order a different one to install. On the positive side I thoroughly understand how to dismantle the rear hatch to install the next one. Note to others installing one (hopefully not this one) be careful with the stud that the lock cylinder attaches to.Read full review...
