Some of the bands best blues guitar work

I'd actually give this cd a 4 1/2 stars. It and the bands release from 1994 titled "Four" are easily my favorites. Travelers & Thieves suffers from one downfall, that is John Poppers' vocals are pretty sketchy in spots, but the band really makes up for his lack of vocal range and clarity. It would be interesting if I could hear this entire cd with the vocals removed, because the actual music is so good that it just stands alone. The last track is my all time favorite by the band, and I was lucky enough to actually see them perform it live in New Jersey approx. a year after its release...it reminds me a lot of early 70's Allman Bros. material. The 9+ minute song "Mountain Cry" sounds as if it could have belonged on "Brothers & Sisters" from 1972, and eerily is reminiscent of that killer Allman Bros. style that has stood the test of time and has become one of rock n roll's "gold standards" for blues-rock. If you enjoy this genre of music then your gonna want to get this cd, the price is definately right on the money now!Read full review...

Possibly Blues Traveler's best CD

I was a big fan of Blues Traveler around the time their first album came out. I ended up seeing them live 3 times that year (1990), and enjoyed every show. When this album came out in 1991, I didn't find it as enjoyable as the the first one. Twenty years later I found myself with tickets to see the band again, and decided to purchase this CD, to give it another chance. I'm very glad I did, it has now become my favorite of their studio albums. From the tripped out intro called "The Tiding", to the duet with Gregg Allman on "Mountain Cry" which ends the album, this one really packs a punch. Other highlights for me where "All In The Groove", "Ivory Tusk", and "I Have My Moments". Even if you are just a casual fan, I truly recommend this CD, you wont be disappointed.Read full review...

Great album, great price, fast shipping! Thanks!!!

AWESOME! I'd never heard this album before, and I love it! I enjoy Blues Traveler's earlier work, and since this one is from 1991, it's pretty early. I think it might be their second album but I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm always a fan of the longer tracks on the Blues Traveler albums, and this album doesn't disappoint. You won't hear any of these songs on the radio, but if you're a fan of lead singer John Popper's singing, song-writing, and harmonica playing, then I suggest you check out this album! Lately I've found that eBay can be a great source for finding awesome deals on albums, always for a great price!Read full review...
