Much more than just another clamp meter.

I find this multi-meter an excellent example of the use of a highly integrated purpose built integrated circuit that provides quite adequate precision with a wide selection of options. My initial attraction to this unit was its ability to do clamp DC current measurements at the 2.000 +-1 milliamp level. This enables me to observe small current levels on circuits that rely on batteries and see if there is too much power off current draw (think automobile with radio that continues to pull current form the battery even when the ignition switch is turned off). Other features that I require are auto power off, continuity test and resistance testing. After using this meter I find it exceptional in both size features and ease of use.Read full review...

Many features for the money, but display is slow responding

Plus: Great features, especially having inductive DC amps is a bonus. It's also very small and portable, and looks and feels good. Rotary switch and leads feel quality.

Minus: The display takes over a second or two to display whatever the current voltage you are reading is, so it lags behind real time.

This can be a problem when diagnosing circuits with intermittent problems, for example, if the voltage comes on but then goes off again in less than 2 or 3 seconds, the display will "move" and show activity, but no numbers will be displayed. So you can only guess or "assume" what the voltage might have been when the display moved, but unless the voltage stays on, this meter will not quickly stabalize and give you a reading.

If the circuit you are measuring has stable voltage (or no voltage) for more than two or three seconds, then this isn't a problem, other than waiting for the couple seconds to stabilize.

Most brand name American meters, like Fluke, Fieldpiece, UEI, etc, read much quicker.

Really terrific value, DC current clamp feature is super handy

I keep this meter on the bench at all times for its DC current clamp-meter capabilities. It's a terrific price for that capability and it works really well; just remember to zero out the meter (with the button dedicated to that purpose) when the meter is in its measuring position and no current is flowing; it's sensitive to stray magnetic fields, as any such clamp-meter must be.

I wouldn't choose this for high-voltage work (like mains voltage), not because it wouldn't work, but because it likely doesn't have the safety margin of my (much more expensive) Fluke. But for general bench-top use, this one is great to have around and a terrific value.

Uni-T UT61E interim review... great product and great value

Researched this product considerably before purchasing and am very pleased with it in the short time I've had it. I'm working within my opinion of the limitations of the product and won't be using for high voltage or high current measurements. Wish it had backlighting or used a higher contrast display...whether I tackle that mod is TBD. Waiting for calibration standards to arrive so accuracy can be evaluated.Read full review...

Get it for features, quality and price!

The multimeter UNI-T UT210D is really handy, fits perfectly in hand for right-handed person. The clamp spring is strong enough for precise and stable measure, however, weak enough to operate it with 1 finger. Build quality is sturdy, screen is easy readable, buzzer is clear and loud.

The NCV is way more sensitive than in other similar meters: it feels the 230V AC grid from about 30 cm. DC ammeter requires zeroing for precise measure. The clamp branch is pretty straight: this makes easy to slick it between wires.

Practical, automatic in some areas - and cheap!

I have had difficulties to decide which decimals I use when I measure the ohms for example. But no worries with this multimeter - it does it automatically! And even though it is said to be not so precise as the better ones, this was more accurate than my normal voltage meter.
I actually didn't use its' mA area, so the best one is yet to be seen.

I saw how the main blower motor reached 10 A in the beginning. ;My old multimeter would not survive it!

I am very pleased with this buy - and this price especially.

Small wonder.

Compact but surprisingly feature-packed multimeter. There are some slight variations of this particular model, with suffixes ranging from A to C. "C" appears to be the most full feature of the three, so please choose wisely. It comes with a clear protective case used to store it, but designed to be able to use the meter without being removed from
it. Very clever!. The unit is not a true RMS, hence the price, so no heavy duty 120-VAC is recommended. Also, it is not backlit. Still highly recommended for DC and occasional AC measurement.

Excellent value clamp meter with great set of useful features

The good: price, compact size, DC current, great resolution, accuracy, includes storage pouch

The bad: rotary switch a little scratchy, feels a bit like a toy

Good meter but be careful with the sub-standard input protection

This meter, like any Uni-T meter, is lousy for line voltage protection and is inappropriate for use by an electrician. It handles 110v measurement OK but I would not go beyond that.

The meter is good for an electronic hobbyist. It tests accurately against my voltage and resistance references. I haven't tested it against current reference.

As an around the house meter, this meter is terrific and probably even over-kill.

In short: it feels good in the hand, the rubber over-mold is fantastic, the display is responsive, and the accuracy is good. Other than the mains input protection, this meter is a home run for a 3.5 digit multimeter.

The only down side of this meter is that it is outshone by it's slightly bigger brother the UT-61E. I have the UT-61E also and it is excellent but mine was slightly out of calibration. The UT-61E was easily calibrated and has become a favorite meter. For an electronics hobbyist on a budget, I suggest a UT-61E andUT-61D are an excellent pair but get a DMMcheck for calibration of the more sensitive UT-61E unit.
