Great System!!!!

Even though I don't use the doorbell feature it works great. It announces incoming calls with ease. I no longer need to get up and shut off the annoying feature of my old phone that would constantly beep to let you know that messages were left. I wholeheartedly recommend this system. Great features, so so video doorbell, but the system is out of production.

The system is light and expandable, up to 10 handsets and 2 audio/video door bells. There are tons of features, if you are at all techie, or you can plug it in and just use it as a phone with minimal set-up. You can choose to configure a whole plethora of handy, useful features, or just go with the factory settings. On the down side, there is a definite time lag between a visitor pressing the doorbell and the photo appearing on the phone, but it is acceptable, after all it's not a security system, it is intended as security and convenience assistance, and it does that in spades.

Only certain features of the video doorbell will function, unless you have ready access to a 120 v. outlet near the doorbell. So far I haven't been able to get the house doorbell to work in conjunction with the video doorbell, even after following the instructions. But VTech's audio/video doorbell works well, with a decent choice of chime options.

One huge drawbacks is that the IS7121 system is out of production and has become difficult to acquire, as are the IS7101 accessory phones, that you will need if you want to extend the number of extensions around the house. I personally don't use the answering system, but the phone works perfectly with my service providers voice message system.

Considering the above drawbacks, I might choose a different phone system and get a more advanced video doorbell, but then I wouldn't see who was ringing the doorbell on my land-line.

In short, I am okay with my VTech IS7121 system, but I'm not sure I can recommend it to others.Read full review...

Overall the V-Tech doorbell system works as advertised

The setup for this phone system was rather easy. I purchased this system because I couldn't hear the doorbell ringing upstairs. I like this system because I can see and speak to whomever is at the door. Installation of the doorbell itself was more complicated I couldn't connect to the existing doorbell because of it's position on the porch. Choosing a location for the doorbell was limited too. I thought about mounting it on the door jam so I could use the ac outlet, but that would have required that I splice an extension to the cable as it wasn't long enough, and punching a hole through the jam into the house. Mounting on the door itself does not allow you to use the AC power adapter either as I couldn't figure out a way to run the cord as my door open to the right and the AC outlet is on the wall to the left.. I ended up mounting the doorbell to the middle of the door below the peephole, and used the batteries to power the device. You also have to be careful about where you mount the doorbell because of the limited viewing field radius. Although you can change the viewing field it is quite limited. The video resolution isn't the greatest, but does the job. I also have security cameras at the doorway so it wasn't a major concern for me, and I was more interested in the intercom features. The added bonus is that it also replaced my cordless phones. I also had to put a sign on the door telling people where to ring the doorbell. The only complaint my daughter had was the phone announces all phone callers.Read full review...

Perfect Product.

Love these handset phones. We use them daily. The doorbell camera works too. Perfect set for us.
Something for everyone to think about. We have ADT. We also have up other cameras. Then we have this set also. We are covered three ways out on just the entrance to our house. I ALWAYS suggest that everyone use more than one system against crooks. There are scammers everywhere. You just have to work harder to keep what little you have. Sad, but true. needs better resolution on camera

Overall a great buy. The only thing that needs improvement is the camera resolution. It is fuzzy and gray, but the speaker function helps in that regard, though you may not be able to clearly see the party at the door you can speak to them to determine if you want to interrupt what you are doing to go to the door.Read full review...

Clear sound & Reception

This is our second Vtech system. The first lasted 15 years and would have been longer if I had not dropped all of the handsets too often. This set has all the bells and whistles you could ask of a phone set. The clear sound and easy to use are just two of the high lights. Falls short of advertisment, still a good phone, with lots of features.

I'd really like to say this is the best cordless phone ever... It's loaded with features, easy to use, good range, the doorbell feature would be awesome, but there's an annoying delay, and the picture quality is nothing like advertised. The DECT phone is not dead yet

Cellphones taking over more and more, the phones connected with copper wire are on the way of extiction. But I still like them, especially the DECT models giving me some mobility in the house while talking. The built in message recorder is practical for elderly people not wanting to go through tedious menu options. Home telephone numbers are more often targeted by spam calls, this is the only negative I can say about them. One wish you could allow calls only for people in your contact list as cellphones do.Read full review...
