Good flue temperature display
There are lots of different types on the market and spent quite a bit of time selecting this one. It has a clear display, works consistently which gives confidence in the accuracy of the reading. I use it regularly to adjust the air going into the stove - otherwise its difficult to judge by eye how hot the fire is getting. Pleased with my choice.Read full review...

Well worth the price
Nice product and great value, attaches to any metallic part of the stove as promised. I am slightly dubious about the optimum burn section though, and whether it differs for different size stoves. Looks good and works well
The gauge looks good fixes to the surfaces very well via the magnet. I'm already getting the benefit as I can now control the amount of coal/ wood I use in the unit to maintain the correct temperature for heating the house and making sure I have the most efficient burn so preventing tar in the chimney. Should have got one sooner!
Good product, surprising how easy it was to have the log burner running above the required temperature.
Also bought a hear operated fan, amazing difference, log burner is in a large room of a 200 year old farmhouse with a high ceiling, we used to have cold spots but the fan has made it an even temperature.

I was tempted to cut costs and save money and get a cheaper one; but reneged and bought the Valiant one. Glad I did. It is robust, clear to read and has a string magnet. Stuck it on the side of the burner (doesn't hold on the flue) and we glance at it all the time to check the heating/burning efficiency. Seems to do the job and the magnets attachment works well. The temperature reached in my stove chimney collar when the stove is burning hot is still only just in the green area. I expect each system will have slightly different ideal temperatures and one learns that by experience. Great product to maximise your stove output.
Since fitting the temperature gauge to my flue pipe I have found it a great aid to getting the optimum burn from my stove, by making minor adjustments to the air intakes I can see the benefits quickly. I tested the temperature display against a hand held LED infra red laser unit and the figures virtually matched to be as close as not enough to bother about. Good product! I was burning too cold and could accumulate creosote! When I got this I could maintain a perfect burn with no chimney fires. There were cheaper options but this has no downsides!
