Great to find classic movies on DVD!

It's great to finally be able to own some of the classics on DVD. I have lots of VCRs, that's not the problem, is problem is that VHS quality can never match DVD resolution and long playing without degradation and the other menu benefits. And this movie is a classic! I'd highly recommend 'Wait Until Dark' for those that love a great suspense movie without all the gore and sexual innuendos, gratuitous special effects, etc. of modern films. The classics, like this one, can built much more realistic drama without all of that. Read full review...

Wait Until Dark (DVD, 2003)

Movie Description
"The gripping tale of a blind woman confronted in her apartment by three criminals with an incredibly elaborate and sinister scheme. One of the first true jump-out-of-your-seat thrillers.

The blinds moving up andidown...the squeaking shoes...and then theiknife whistling past her ear...

Now two are left: Susy, recently blinded and still learning how to live in a sighted world, and Roat, a psychopathic killer. Roat wants a heroin-stuffed doll he thinks Susy has. All Susy wants is to survive.

Dim the lights, check the door's chain-lock, and brace yourself for a chiller as polished as the steel of Roat's blade. Audrey Hepburn earned her fifth Academy Award nomination as Susy. Alan Arkin is pure evil as Roat, master of disguise and accents. Jack Weston and Richard Crenna co-star as his henchmen. Building to a heart-pounding one-on-one confrontation, Wait Until Dark "belongs to the screen's most memorable thrillers." (David Shipman, The Story of Cinema)."

I've always loved this film. I remember watching when I was a kid and it scared me. Audrey Hepburn gives a riveting performance! Loved this film.

Enjoy!~~~~~

Great Thriller!

I've really enjoyed getting to see this awesome film again. I can still recall audiences jumping out of their seats at a particularly shocking scene (don't worry, I won't give anything away). Hepburn and Arkin are particularly good, with solid support from Richard Crenna & Jack Weston. The little girl who plays Gloria deserves a gold star as well. If you get a chance to watch this one, don't miss it! The dvd arrived well-protected, on time and plays really well. Thank you for making this film available for purchase!Read full review...

Wait Until Dark is the Epitome of a Suspense Movie

Audrey Hepburn plays the blind wife of Richard Crenna, who returns totally unaware from a business trip with an open travel bag that contains a doll dropped there by a fellow passenger, who plans to pick it up later. We soon find out that the doll is full of heroin. When he brings it home to his wife, she gives it to a neighbor--a little girl as a gift. Soon, their home is invaded by 3 criminals--one of whom is played by Alan Arkin in the scariest role of his career. Several times they are there when Audrey Hepburn comes home, and she is unaware of their presence. What happens after that I won't give away, but the movie leaves you gripping the seat of your chair for about the last 20 minutes.

Don't miss it.

A beautiful blind girl in a tight situation! A group of males trying to do her wrong! Sound good?

Audrey Hepburn is any outstanding actress, even if an old one. I have enjoyed many of her movies over the years and I am now rounding out my collection of her movies by purchasing the few ones that are missing. This one is one of the great ones if you like suspense! I will NOT summarize the plot here. Go get the movie! Enjoy!Read full review...

Wait Until Dark 1967

This suspenseful film told about the deadly search for drugs, unknowingly stashed in a rag doll; one early shocking moment was Mike Talman's (Richard Crenna) gruesome discovery of the body of Lisa (Samantha Jones) in a plastic garment bag; in the final battle of wits staged in complete darkness, after splashing gasoline all around her tiny basement apartment, there was the exciting jump-out-of-your-seat (or shock-leap) moment of the villainous and crazed Harry Roat's (Alan Arkin) lunge with a knife from the dark hallway toward blind Susy Hendrix (Audrey Hepburn) - and her retaliation by threatening to ignite his gas-soaked body with a match; also the tense match-up between them, when he discovered the light in the refrigeratorRead full review...

A classic scary movie without the filth

I loved this movie when I was in high school and still love it, as do my "too cool" high school aged kids. It's a classic. A wonderful show to watch for Halloween or a cozy night at home. Scary, but not silly or filthy or sick. Audrey Hepburn plays a blind woman who inadvertantly gets mixed up in a drug-smuggling ring with murder on the agenda, while her husband is away. She's brave, terrified, and smart. A real heart pumping story with a fanastic heart jolting ending. You can't go wrong here. Am thrilled they finally have it available after all these years.Read full review...
