Steve McQueen deserves better

I am giving this set Wanted: Dead Or Alive Season One two stars only because Steve McQueen made the series memorable. Whoever decided to put this series on dvd did the fans no favour when they went all out to produce the cheapest product they could. These discs are two sided to begin with and were cheaply packaged. The dvds were scratched and in some cases froze up and were not viewable. Why not do a blu-ray version of the series and package them in regular blu-ray cases properly with some extras. People who liked Steve McQueen would appreciate this set and be willing to pay more if it was done properly. Just another example of short changing the consumer. I will be far more cautious in the future and looking for blu-ray versions ONLY so as to avoid paying any amount of money for junk like this!Read full review...

Excellent Western Series

Excellent for the folks who enjoy the late 50’s and early 60’s westerns, in my opinion Steve McQueen had one of the best series ever in Wanted Dead or Alive, very entertaining episodes and nice to watch at your convenience.Read full review...

TERRIFIC classic television series features solid writing and action! A+

This purchase of the fIRST SEASON of WANTED - DEAD OR ALIVE was a terrific addition to my collection. For years I've read about this famous series, and although I've always been a huge STEVE MCQUEEN fan, I never had the opportunity to see his first television series. I decided to give this first season package a try, and it was an excellent example of early, quality television. All episodes are clean and sharp (glorious black and white)- but brief. Each episode has a familiar face or two, filled with terrific actors you'll recognize (many just starting their careers!) Although there are no extras, the value is terrific and I highly recommend! This DVD collection definitely fits into the category of classic TV western.
It also brings with it the fact that the star of the series, Steve McQueen,
went on to be an international cinema star. In Wanted:Dead or Alive, McQueen
plays Josh Randall, bounty hunter, who is as ordinary as his favorite weapon
that he carries on his hip, a modified, sawed-off Winchester rifle, called
"the mare's leg." This bounty hunter's unique choice of weapon was the same
as his code of justice, powerful and with a twist. Josh Randall was all law man.
Yet he was always for the regular guy, who might not carry the big gun. His ego
did not demand recognition for any good deed, just that it fit his personal

steve macqueen: wanted dead or alive season 1

being into classics films and tv, naturally I noticed this series. however, I am not really a western fan except a few humorous ones. to be honest, I have not seen the others. the only reason I really I brought it was because Mona Freeman( i'm her biggest fan) is in the episode:'the forth headstone'. I'm sure the others are good, but to tell the truth, mona freeman is in a season two episode and I will buy it just for that.

great process to dvd. excellant episodes.steve mcqueen was one of my favorite actors. he was the epidimy of "cool". this was a great western with great writers and actors. first episode had nick adams and michael landon as bad guy brothers.brings back memories of all the great westerns i grew up with. the 50's and 60's saw a great transition from roy rogers,lone ranger,hoppy cassidy to the adult westerns of wanted dead or alive,gunsmoke,have gun will travel adult westerns.i loved them all and still do. and having a great time buying and reliving that great era.---thank you ray johnsonRead full review...

Memories!

I have bought three seasons of this series here on eBay and I AM GETTING A BUNCH FOR MY MONEY! This would be politically incorrect today (ask me if I give a fat rats patootie ?) because the bad guy usually wound up in a hole in the ground. Today we just pat 'em on the fanny and let 'em loose to do it all over again. Personally,I would love to go "back to those thrilling days of yesteryear" and watch Hoppy,Gene,Roy and all the rest deal out some serious justice.Read full review...

Wanted: Dead or Alive - Season 1

I liked the old western shows on TV and this one has not been on, although others are being shown, such as The Rifleman and The Big Valley. I decided to go on Ebay and found it! Of course, I had to buy it and am not disappointed...the quality of the DVD's is excellent and it's great to watch these again. I'm sure I'll be looking to buy Seasons 2 and 3 as well!Read full review...
