a story that tells of a love that lasts beyond death and the journey one man takes to be reunited with his lost love and his family Robin Williams is marvelous as the deceased accident victim who tries to reunite with the love of his life . Annabella Sciorrai is excellent as the distraught wife who in a fit of despair commits suicide according to Catholic doctrine suicides are sent to Hell we follow our hero on his perilous quest to rescue his love from her fate Max Von Sydow does his usual outstanding best as a spirit who helps on the journey Cuba GoodingJr is excellent as the gho st of our hero's mentor and Rosalind Chao does her usual bang-up best as the spirit guide Leona a great movie the end is a bit of a surprise but you'll get no spoilers from me i recommend this story who has ever wondered about life after death and if true love ever survivesRead full review...

Envisioning the Afterlife through a Painted World

The scenes and special effects that they combined with paint were pretty awesome and unique. The movie gives you a different perspective on how one may view what heaven can be like. Very pretty images. I think the movie dragged in various parts, which I didn't expect with all of the "hype" given about it. What Dreams May Come: Great movie

This is an amazing movie about love and heaven, and how the two relate. A man dies suddenly, and we follow with him to heaven. This is where we learn that heaven is what you believe it is. Only, he cannot truly be in heaven without his wife and family. This is when we realize that his wife has slowly been deteriorating. She eventually commits the unthinkable sin, suicide. The movie that changed my life

I watch this movie pretty often, as it is my favorite. It inspired me when I first saw it and continues to do so. It is a portrayal of what depths a true love can take you to. Very surrealistic and artful. It transports you into another realm of possibility of love and life.
