Great modern adaptation of a classic tale.

Everyone knows the story of Romeo and Juliet so I'll keep this short and sweet. I love the idea of transporting Shakespeare's work into the modern era without making any changes to the script. I know most of the dialogue so it's fun for me to see the actors add modern context to the unchanged script. Mercutio has always been my favorite character and Harold Perrineau's performance made him even more so. All of the other key roles were expertly handled as well and even some of the smaller parts like Dash Mihok's Benvolio and Vondie Curtis-Hall's Captain Prince were performed excellently and deserve applause. The sound track is appropriate and enjoyable and the special features are adequate and add extra background and perspective which helps to further flesh out the world of Verona Beach. I recommend this film to everyone, but fans of the Immortal Bard in particular should make an effort to see it. You'll be glad you did.Read full review...

It was very good, modern style Romeo & Juliet. But I've always favored the old one that came out first. Both are real good.🙂

Love the modern twist that was used. Even my 14 yr old son thought it was good.
