Realist Water is Realistic!

This is the second layout that I have used Realistic Water. The ease of just pouring from a plastic bottle in lieu of heating, melting and pouring is wonderful. The time of curing is the only thing that needs to be tweeked. I used it in my garage in cool weather and it took much longer to harden than usual. If I had done it in warm/hot weather, the curing would have been much faster but I can't control the weather!! This is a product that I will continue to use on future layouts.Read full review...

Realistic Water, is it worth the money.

Had trouble with the second pour. It turned cloudy on me. Maybe my fault, maybe not. I let it dry 48 hours between pours to make sure it had enough curing time. Need to pour third layer, but am hesinant to do so at this time. Outside of that problem, easy to use, and looks good when it does what it it's supposed to do.Read full review...

Nice, easy to use water effects for your scenery!!!

Realistic Water by Woodland Scenics is an improved version of their water products. I used the older pellets that you had to melt in a sauce pan years ago, and this product is superior. Just follow the instructions on pouring, and you're all set.

You can now tint this product with their water tinting products as they have expanded their line.

Great water effects

Very nice effects to make water puddles, lakes, rivers, etc. Be sure to use this in dosed volumes, to give it the time to harden out, like explained on the bottle. Use only on sealed material (no airbubbles or open spaces where it can flow through), becuse it is very fluid at first. When it is comletely hardened, it will give a nice, even water effect. or wrinkeled or wave effects, follow instructions.Read full review...

Great Stuff...

We've been using other products to mix and pour and sometimes with horrible results..Scum on top and not setting up..We bought this products and now have no more fears of a bad pour..Works every time and even covers other pours of the mixing type with a solid clear coat..It's a little more expensive but worth every penny...Love this stuff...Read full review...

Great Product

You have to be very patient, like, 1/8 of an inch at a time. You can color it to look like a blue sea or green lake, or even clear pond. Lovely!

"Realistic Water?"

This product has received a lot of negative comments from experienced modelers who have used it. Personally I like using it and it does provide a very realistic looking body of water!

There are however some things you should know about it before using it.

First follow the directions to the letter! If you make a pour too thick it will have difficulty "setting up" . The same can happen if you pour it outside the temperature range listed on the packaging.

Second, make sure you seal the water bed very well because it will leak if you don't! What I do is when pouring over plaster or hydrocal, I seal it with an artist's product called Gesso and let dry overnight before painting and other landscaping details.

Another lesson I learned with this product is that it never really completely hardens (like glass) it is susceptible to direct heat sources. Anything you place on it will eventually stick to it. In the case of two wooden ships I placed on it they actually became part of the it. (it actually made the ships water line more realistic) So make sure you locate any ships properly!

It is easy to clean up though after using. After set up you can clean dust and other small particles by simply wiping with a damp cloth.

I really like Realistic Water, but you do need to be aware of its characteristics!

How deep is the water Mama

Realistic Water is just what the product is, the only product on the market, for making what you want. Along with the others that go hand in hand the best. When dry, it has a slight mirrored finish that is most impressive. Read full review...

Realistic Water Two

I have used it before and i will use it again. Very easy to use. Make the pond, the river or stream. Paint the bottom blue, the sides or edges tan, sprinkle a little or a lot of tallus on the tan color only, spray a little thinned white glue on the tallus, let it dry and poor in the Realistic Water. Must be level and you must make a liittle dam from 1/8" white glue bead.
Let it dry 24 hours. Add some small boats before it is dry. Do Not Move them once they are in the sticky water. Or, follow their directions. Works well.

Watch it! this stuff is tricky!

This is a High end, expensive acrylic, but it's well worth it if you plan 3 things,
1. Use the Woodland Scenics online calculator to find out how much you need, make sure to account for things you place in the water, you may not need the recommenced amount, Money saved!
2. when they 1/8" pour, they mean it, if you go overboard, you will be waiting for a lot longer than 24-36 hours, if you do it right, you can pour every day to your hearts content, be Patient!
3.Seal your Scenery! i mean go nuts looking for any place it Might come through and seal it, then do it again.
4. Step back and look at the Beautiful Waterscape you created
