X-Com: UFO Defense Playstation 1

If you've never played this game and enjoy turned based action/strategy games, then this is the one for you. This is one of my all time favorite games to this day.
The premise of the game is simple. You are in charge of taking care of alien invaders. You start by forming a base of operations. The Earth is visible as you are able to rotate and spin to find the place where you would like to set up camp. Your base has a basic radar system in place that helps track UFOs in your immediate area. When an alien vessle is detected, you must launch an attack ship, or wait for the alien craft to land.
Once the alien craft has landed, you send a military team to investigate. You will need 2 save slots, one for the exterior map, and one for the battles. If you are not careful, you can lose your team within a few turns. Once you get the hang of the combat, and learn all about Research and Manufacturing of developed technology, you'll really have a great time.
This game competes with my playtime with most of my PS3 games. That says a lot. It's a great game and it comes with my highest recomendation. Enjoy!Read full review...

One of the Epics

I have played a ton of games in the time that i have been alive, ranging from the FF series to the God of War series. There a lot of great games out there, but there are only a rare few epic titles some of which have flown right under the radar. X-Com is one of those games. I can't mention one bad thing about it, some would say the graphics are too old school but i honestly believe otherwise. I love today's flashy graphics as much as the next gamer, but i think this games graphics hold substance. but other than the debatable graphics, the rest of the game is flawless. i can't give this game enough praise, i could try but i would not be successful.Read full review...

Sleeper tactical that outshines predecessors

Final Fantasy Tactics was an outstanding game that helped launch tactics/strategy games of its sort into the main stream. Before that game graced our playstations though, a sleeper hit in the same genre slid under most gamers radar. That game was X-com: UFO Defense.
This port title of the PC game stands apart from other tactics games still due to its mixture of strategy and turn-based tactical battles. To be successful, players need to build on to their base, research new technologies, manage troops and supplies and generate income. this game is sooooo good...

three-quarter overhead, turn based combat scenarios and heavy on the business management aspect as far as building and maintaining your bases and funds. released in 1995 this game is still as addictive as it was when i first got it in the mid nineties. i think it stands up to anything today in keeping you entertained.... no, engrossed. but if you don't like this kind of game in the first place then this probably won't win you over.Read full review...

X Com UFO Denfense

This is an OLD SCHOOL Classic! I had it in the 90's and lost it somewhere. I was more than happy to pay what a latest release would cost for this fantastic game. It's a $100 game if there every was one. Just make sure you get the PS1 version. I have no experience with the PC version but I suspect you would have problems with today's OS like XP.Read full review...
