Great Deal for the Money

I didn't expect to get a really high quality tri-pod for this price but I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of this item. The locks on the leg extensions work perfectly and the pan, tilt and lift feature works just fine. If you are looking for a cheap tri-pod for occasional use, and for a camera or large set of binoculars that is not really heavy, this one is perfect.Read full review...

Descent Tripod for Novice

Pros: Compact, light weight, good leg locks, extends to full 60 inches.

Cons: Very small almost toy-like QR plate, center column has slight tendency to wobble during raising/lowering of head, some plastic pieces that seem rather cheap.

Overall, for $17.95, this would be a good tripod for beginning shooters with small cameras and quick set-ups.
DSLRs or heavier video cameras, it would seem, are much to cumbersome for something this light weight.

GOOD VALUE

THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS TRIPOD; HIEGHT IS MORE THAN ADDICUT FOR TAKING EYE LEVEL PHOTOS OR VIDEO, TRIPOD IS VERY STABLE EVEN WHEN FULLY RAISED, ALL FEATURES WORK WELL AND THE QUALITY IS VERY GOOD FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL TRIPOD.
COULD BE IMPROVED; THE CRANK IS A LITTLE ROUGH AS I NEEDED TO STABILIZE THE CAMERA WHILE MOVING UP OR DOWN. FOR UNDER $30.00 THIS IS AN OVERALL GOOD VALUE.

light weight and easy to use

It is the same size as our higher quality/more expensive stand. It's an identical design with the same features. Yes, clearly it is not the same quality but it is also lighter and more portable, which is what I wanted. I only bought it to hold a cell phone or ipad and its a perfect fit. I wouldn't try to use it with a heavy expensive camera.Read full review...

Invest in something better.

This is one of those products you should spend a little extra for better quality elsewhere.

The metal supports (edit: just noticed its not metal; its cheap hard plastic) that link the tripod's legs together are poorly made and brittle. One was already broken when I opened the bag and little pieces fell out.

I tested (as best I could) to see if it might be worth getting another one.

This is what I decided : Do you really want to risk an expensive camera by placing it on something like this? Sure, you can save a bit by buying this type but I honestly wouldn't expect it to hold against a brisk breeze and it would be infuriating to damage a quality camera over a product like this.

Good light stand

I had no illusions when I bought this item. I knew that it would be of inferior quality to my Manfrotto and Gitzo tripods and that I would not attach my expensive cameras to it - but that is fine. I purchased this as a stand for a flash to be used in real estate photography. It extends to a nice height and will stand in a very small footprint. Much better than a traditional light stand with its broad feet.Read full review...

Excellent Budget Product

The tripod came with one the foot loose I think the glue just wore out. You have to be careful with it as it appears very delicate at the joints. But when I started using it was actually fine I will just have to get some industrial glue to fit the part that came off. Also one the bolt was not tight and fell off but I fitted it back and tightened it . Its actually a little sturdier than it looks out of the box. I used it at the beach it shakes in moderate to high wind but for normal situation it should be okay especially if I don't attached anything else to it. The main thing is to treat it with care because it is a bit delicate at the plastic hinges. But for $18 dollars it not bad and the height is just perfect for what I need it for. For professional jobs though you will want to try a heavy tripod made mostly of thicker metal that can take more weight. In the end an excellent beginners, hobbyist that wants an extremely light weight tripod perfect for indoor use, outside use not so much. Won't support heavy equipment. Excellent for things like light weight little to medium cameras and entry level consumer camcorders.Read full review...

Great item to record an event with.

The product is great to hold a camera but not sturdy for an iPad.

Lightweight and sturdy

It's really lightweight and can compact to a small size. I was afraid that at it's larger size it wouldn't hold up very well (as in tip over due to the weight of the camera--I've had past tripods do that) but it didn't! It holds the camera well no matter the angle or height its at and is a great product.Read full review...
