Good, unique, but flawed

It serves as an entryway to playing Baroque music in the pitch it was meant to be played with--sounds more attractive. Plastic alto recorders are quite diverse, but none before have tried to enter the world of A415 and for this Zen-On deserves Kudos. Could it sound better? Yes, but probably not in plastic. No one is making a $150 wooden one, so this is a way for those of us amateur recorder players to enlarge the joy of our music making--and to consider saving up to make the considerable jump to a wooden one. The closest recorder to this one in tone is the Aulos Haka, which has a lower tonality, although it is at A440. If you can afford one, give it a try--oh, and order some kind of thumb rest--this is a serious deficiency, as it is much easier to play with one.Read full review...

Extraordinary Sound Great Price

Some purists may be put off by the plastic material used to make this recorder. It has good baroque look to it, though. It has a beautiful sound and there is no worry of swelling or marring the finish. It is wonderful to find an instrument tuned to A = 415 HZ, baroque tuning, in this price range. Beware, it is not able to be tuned to any other instruments with modern pitch (A 440 Hz).Read full review...

Worth the money for sure.

You have to be willing to spend some time learning which notes are in tune, which need slight adjustments of breath pressure and/or tongue position. But for the money, it's a good investment and I can recommend it for those in need of A415 on occasion.Read full review...

Wonderful Instrument at an Excellent Price

The recorder plays beautifully with a solid response throughout its range. I have wanted an alto pitched at "a 415" but have not been able to afford one until the Zenon Bressan became available.

A cut above most plastic recorders; good reproduction of a Bressan.

Good tone quality in the lower register; good tuning & value. I've not encountered synthetic recorders at A = 415 hz before, & wasn't expecting this good quality.

I enjoy playing it, and since it's not wood, have no worries about ruining it by over-practising!Read full review...
