Eduard/Brassin 1/32 Messerschmitt Me-262 Wheel Set

Besides what I believe to be the world's best photo-etched model kit parts, Eduard also has a line of accessories in cast resin, often containing photo etched parts to go with them (hence the play on the words brass and resin to create "Brassin.")

These are finely cast parts in gray resin with unmatched detail and crispness. I always try to get Brassin parts for my projects first before I consider any other manufacturer. There are several others out there whose parts do just fine, but Eduard has reached another level that I cannot do without.

This set for the new Revell Me-262 night fighter is an example. The kit wheels aren't that bad, but they aren't "weighted," and they have to be assembled out of halves. When you sand the seam of the tire, there goes the tread detail, unless you want to rescribe it. I don't, and I've found these beautiful cast wheels and tires to be a welcome alternative. The tread detail is properly deep and more apparent, plus there is the tire manufacturer logo on the sidewall! The wheels feature sharply scribed details such as the brake cylinder and line along with the wheel bolts. The front tire has radial tread and the main tires feature hexagonal tread. The wheels/tires are mounted on pour blocks and must be cut free using a razor saw. You can use the spot on the tires where you cut them free as your "flat spot" to rest the tires on the surface.

This set is an ideal replacement for the kit wheels. The Revell 262 is an outstanding kit and this set will definitely do it justice. Highly recommended!
