Still a Good Model
I already have 2 Bachmann Farish original Merchant Navy locos. but what I really remember from 1950s trainspotting are the Modified Merchant Navies. This Poole-era Farish model still provides a good representation, being dimensionally accurate overall, even though the driving wheels are slightly small and the "skirt" between the boiler and running plate is rather obtrusive when the loco. is stationary.
Perhaps, in the future, Bachmann/Farish will upgrade this model to 21st Century standards but I can't wait that long to recreate my memories! This good-looking model still looks impressive at the head of a long train and I will make my own improvements by replacing the "pizza cutter" front bogie, blackening the very bright motion and adding DCC.Read full review...
