Durable, long-lasting, and LOUD

This was an awesome purchase, if your willing to pay for it.

Durability is great, The speaker is waterproof and floats, however, if you place it in the water it floats upside down, so not really a "floating speaker" more of a speaker that can float, as the sound becomes distorted and quiet, but not a turn off for me. its also got rubber bumpers on the bottom and sides so its pretty shock proof/drop proof.

Sound is great. The bass really kicks and the speaker is loud. The speaker also fills up an outdoor space incredibly well. I played soccer with some friends with it and placed on the sidelines at full volume I was able to hear the music clearly and loud from goal to goal.

battery life is also great, iv never had it die on me, even after taking it hammocking for entire days. Charge lives up to the claims made by JBL.

The carry strap is also an amazing feature, I didn't realize id enjoy it as much as I do, and would have a hard time going back.

Nice but could be louder...

For the price, one would expect this speaker to be louder, it is not as loud as its predecessor (JBL Xtreme) which costs a fraction of the price. However, it is still a loud and powerful speaker in general and the newer features and waterproofing make it worth it. I am happy with my purchase.Read full review...

Best speaker for the money I've ever heard.

Best speaker for the money I have ever owned and have owned speakers that were thousands of dollars apiece. Got a $10,000 club system in my garage and this is the new "mancave" speaker. My wife says this speaker sounds as good as the big system and she NEVER explores the limits like I do. Some reviewers said it wasn't loud enough. Well, they had hearing problems from using ear buds. Never met a speaker that was too loud but this does the best for the different types of music and about everyone of them is uploaded at different volume if you do a lot of internet listening. So anyway, good enough bass to shake a kidney stone loose and overall quality thru all ranges with no distortion. Now it is a bit heavy but that comes with the quality. Comes with a carry strap but would be nice if they had engineered a built in carry handle. Can't wait for the next level, if there is one. Read full review...

Best speaker design I’ve ever seen

In my honest opinion, JBL’s people did a great job in designing the JBJ Xtreme 2 speaker. The quality of everything: fantastic bass, mids and highs, make listening to it, a real enjoyment. Add to all this, its water proof capabilities and without doubt, the best of its class. Very happy with this purchase!Read full review...

I would buy JBL xtreme 3

JBL xtreme 2, awesome speaker in all categories. Difficult to find a speaker to compete. If there's any feedback I can give to improve the JBL experience it would the price is rather high. It should be in the $150-$170 pocket range or less. Second, although the sound and bass is boss already. It could use 50-60 watts instead of 30 watts with same sound/ bass ability and JBL xtreme 2 would sell like hot cakes and sausages. Read full review...

Shocking results!

Wow, JBL's unexpected quality. I have the Canon Street Hopper 8 and tested between the two.

Shocking quality from the little JBL. The Canon is not bad but It wasn't until I passed the JBL's max power level that the Canon Street Hopper 8 woke up and provided exceptional ear bleeding and possible nerve damage. Still walking in circles! It may be possible the JBL is half the power of the canon, but quality is another story all together!

I am at a loss, which will I use? I like the lower volume quality but I am in noisy situations at high speeds sometimes - testing may need to continue! The JBL is water proof!!!!!

Great speaker small speaker

it has high quality and high power in a very compact shapely design. It has a great charger with it and holds battery power for hours on end. It has water-resistant protection, however, I would not bang it around or roll it on the ground, as though it would survive it would cosmetically show the abuse.Read full review...

Item was almost immediately processed & shipped, got it in 2 days versus the initial 7. I've owned a charge 3 and decided to upgrade to the xtreme 2. This portable speaker is a BEAST..very strong bass & very clear sound quality. This will fill any room with quality clear sound.Read full review...

Xtreme 2 vs pair Charge 3's

Went from pair of Flip4's to Charge 3's to Charge 4's to Xtreme 2's...and Riva Turbo X, Oobtz and others..in search of a balanced hi fi accurate sound. Xtreme 2's are loud bloated bass thumpers, Charge 4's are just less of same formula. Settled on pair of Charge 3's which in stereo mode at 1/3 volume have a nice sound stage and good tonal balance. Placement is critical...moving slightly in and out of corners and experimenting with hard and soft surfaces..will yield a satisfying and inexpensive bluetooth Pandora system. I found 2 new in box Charge 3's for $115 ...way less than one new Xtreme 2. The Riva as-new was only $55 ...looking for a mate. Point is...there are Serious bargains in 2 and 3 year old BT speakers. Not everything new in this world is better. The older Klipsch KMC 3 is another sleeper. The batteries on older BT speakers may be weak or failing...and system better if plugged in. That's why I kept a pocket sized Oontz Angle 3 Ultra for travel... and quickly sold the bloated bass Xtreme 2 for a $60 loss.Read full review...
