I purchased this phone in anticipation of Symbian Anna update and just updated yesterday.
It replaced T-Mobile HD2, which will remain my second best choice only because of the not so good camera.
My biggest adjustment is screen size. The HD2 is 4.3" display and Nokia is only 3.5". It makes a lot of difference in web browsing, especially since the resolution on the Nokia is smaller than HD2, thus displaying less and requiring more scrolling. With HD2 it was almost laptop experience.
But I love the Gorilla glass and aluminium body. I believe that ALL phone manufacturers should built their phones in anticipation that someone is going to drop one. My HD2 was tough but nowhere close to Nokia tough. I used to own E61, E62, E71 and they were all built solid.
Software after Anna is very solid. I actually enjoy the mix of extra available settings and less UI (user interface) flexibility. It just make me use the phone for what is intended.
I can find all application on Ovi Store I really need and the only one I chose to pay for was a Call Tracker, which synchronizes calls to Calendar and then synchronizes with Outlook (very cool app). Other than that I do not need anything else. Hey, it has Angry Birds... LOL
I am using 32B card, so with the internal memory I am having 48GB or memory (more than I ever need).
As an added extra, I use often FM emitter. In my car at home, you just sellect radio frequency and your radio plays whatever you play on your phone. It is great for my car as I have older radio and did not want to upgrade to Bluetooth or other radio.
It also has USB on the go (I have not used it yet), which would be awesome if I ever chose to write something really long on my phone (probably not).
Last, but not least the phone quality is great. This was my complaint about HD2 plus freezing and I have no problems with Nokia N8.

Zippy Symbian Device 12 mp Camera Multitasker Nokia N8
(Revised 9 February 2011 to update experiential aspects; downgrade to good.
After using the Nokia N8 for two months I have come to the conclusion that this is the smartphone to lead Nokia forward. It is not perfect - what is?
Fit and Finish - This is probably the best constructed and flawless looking mobile device I have ever purchased. The few buttons work well with good feedback. The phone is solid, an advantage of a non-traditional battery cover. The HDMI port cover is too cheap; no port cover for the microUSB port.
Display - OLED and rich looking. 3.5 is as big as I would want to carry around regularly. The resolution is typical Symbian (360 x 640), which is to say not nearly enough pixels on that just right sized screen. The FIRST mobile display that I can use easily outside in daylight.
Ease of Setup - Initial setup was a bit more of chore than I expected it to be. WiFi setup, contact transfer were both harder than they needed to be. I had to use Ovi Suite to transfer contacts; the interphone transfer application did not work with my Nokia N900. Everything else, MMS, SMS, microSDHC file system, etc. set itself up. Wow!
How Does It Work? - The phone behaves very well, picking the WiFi network over my 3G connection whenever needed. This is something that my Nokia 5800 does not always do well. The N8 does not even ask - it simply picks the right connection. By the way, that is a wireless N speed connection. Very fast. The user interface is very fast. There are times when it hangs for up to ten seconds, which is an eternity when you are waiting for an application to open or close so you can do something else. This is once or twice a day, just enough to remind you it can be a problem without being an issue. I use the optional Swype keyboard and love it.
The Touch Screen - The pencil eraser sized stylus gave me an idea of how much precision I was sacrificing for the capacitive multitouch on the N8-00 over my resistive screen devices. I like the subtle but distinct vibration feedback. This is a much sweeter and tuned vibration than on previous Nokia touch screens and much nicer than Samsung touch feedback. Multi-touch works well. There are times when I believe my touch input has gotten lost on the way to informing the OS the screen has been touched. About twice a day this happens.
Using It - This is an incredibly snappy device. It does what you want when you want it to. It does true multitasking, it is easy to switch to or close open applications. Application installs are simple. The on screen keypad and full QWERTY keyboard work well. Swype only makes what is good better. Enjoyed playing a movie, complete with surround sound, via the HDMI port directly into my TV and home sound system. This is the convergence we have been hearing about for 15 years. E-mail, SMS, MMS all work as expected.
Camera- I see very few artifacts in my well lit photos. A lot of thought went into the processing algorithms to ensure best results from the 12 MP sensor. Xenon flash is bright and even. Images look fabulous on the device. Video is quite good. None of the choppiness or hesitation I have seen in other cell phone (N900) video shooters. It all looks great on the big screen in native 720p resolution.
Summary- Daily momentary hangs aside, this is a good device with many features. That I can get 3G speeds with both my T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs is a plus.Read full review...
Not Nokia's best phone
I have always been a Nokia fan. I even like the Symbian OS. That said, I am not entirely happy with the N8.
Pros:
-The phone feels good in the hand, comfortable size, all metal body feel durable.
-The camera is amazing, I get better picture with my phone than my digital camera.
-Call quality, as expected, is wonderful. Listeners say they can't tell I'm on a mobile phone.
-Three home screens works well for me. I like having info and apps in groups. I dislike having to sort through apps to find what I want.
The screen is bright, easy to read even in sun light.
Cons:
-Qwerty keyboard only useable in landscape mode. Difficult to type with one hand. I stongly recommend installing Swype; its free and works very well.
-For reasons unknown to me, the phone freezes. Reset is easy, just hold power button down for 10 secs then turn phone back on. Luckily occurs only on standy by.
-Lastly, many of the Ovi apps have not be updated to work with the N8. I have had to uninstall many either because they don't work properly or they cause screen to freeze.
I understand a software update will be soon available, hopefully some of these problems will be corrected. Admittedly I'm spoiled. I have never had ANY problems with my prior Nokia phones. The difficulties with the N8 are minor and workable, but I have high expectations.Read full review...
Great phone by little not the best
Software still needs to be polished, but hardware is awesome!! Recomended for travellers.

It has less Ram memory and a slower processor than other smartphones, but it handles great with games and apps thanks to the speed of symbian.

Nokia N8 review
As a loyal Nokia user along the years I know right away that I have to give a try to the N8 cell before anyone else.
As I expected this phone is perfect almost in every aspect!
The battery is strong and last long, the signal is strong even on elevators, the OS symbian^3 run smoothly, it looks great and feel expensive when you hold it, it have alot of options in it including the GPS that work like a charm.
But all this is nothing compare to its camera!!! 12MP, 720p recording do the work and it gives excellent photos and vidoes!!!
The only negative thing that I can say about this cell is that the OVI store of Nokia dont have too much softwares like Andorid and iOS so my guess it will take a bit longer but in the end it will have everything.

Nokia is back - N8
Bought the new Nokia N8 one month ago. Impressing handset, I very much like the cam (12 MP, Xenon-flash, 720P HD video recording) and the built quality (aluminium case, gorilla glass, AMOLED display). Features HDMI output, USB On-The-Go (works like a USB host to flash drives, USB mouse/keyboards etc.)and a new Symbian version (Symbian^3). Combined with the capacitive touch screen it is a much better touch screen experience to me. Still not perfect - software wise - but already a big step forward. I give it a "good" rating instead of excellent due to the UI weaknesses compared to iOS and android; also the touchscreen response yet could be better.Read full review...
Nokia N8: you won't regret getting this phone
The Nokia N8 is a very good smartphone if you look for an smartphone that delivers performance. The camera is just awesome (with 12 MP, you can't go wrong). With 16 GB internal storage + microSD card capability (up to 32 GB) + USB connectivity + HDMI connectivity, I can have pretty much all the files I want to always available from my phone, and can also record HD videos and directly connect the phone to my HDTV (which is pretty cool). The music player is also good. The interface is easy to use, but I have to say that is not the best.
Over the last 5 years I have owned the Blackberry Pearl/Curve, and also the iPhone 3GS. The N8 is far superior to any Blackberry out there (the only advantage of Blackberry is the keyboard).
If you are deciding between this phone and an iPhone think about the following: a) Are you an outdoors person, who loves going camping/fishing/climbing/etc., and will be taking tons of pictures with the phone? If so, take the N8 (the N8 camera will make the pictures taken with an iPhone look like crap, trust me); b) Would you be accessing websites with Flash? If so, take the N8 (I am a huge soccer fan, and to view matches using ESPN or any other broadcaster you need flash... I mean, for God's sake Apple!!! Seriously???); c) Want tons of applications to download? If so, the iPhone is better (Ovistore is not nearly as big as Applestore, but so far I have all the applications I want). Also, I found the virtual keyboard of the iPhone easier to use, but is just a matter of getting used to the N8's virtual keyboard.
This is a very god phone. Is packed with the best camera ever made for a phone, and you have everything you could possibly need. The Ovimaps feature is also a good add. People may say that the phone has a slow processor, but since the operating system is so light, the performance is still very good (this phone is fast!!! Probably the performance of the dual core smartphones is beating the crap out of it, but so they are doing with every single-core smartphone, including the iPhone 4).Read full review...
Best phone I've ever used - stop carrying around a separate camera!
Hands down the best phone I have ever owned, including the iPhone4 which serves as my business device. I bought this product primarily because of its highly celebrated camera: a top quality Carl Zeiss 12mp sensor + xenon flash make it effectively a point/shoot replacement. Nokia has since announced the 808 successor to this beautiful device, which I'll one day have to pick up in the future now.
In terms of functionality, it's unfortunate that Nokia has made a decision to commit to the Windows Mobile platform in the future because Symbian is really hands down the most effective operating system out there today. Far more lightweight, agile, and efficient than Android... If only the Symbian guys knew a little more about marketing and spent more time promoting 3rd party app development, you might see today a little monkey logo out there everywhere instead of this R2D2 android logo (and they never would have gotten surpassed by Android development to the point of being acquired by Nokia). I think back to my first Symbian device, a Sony Ericsson P900 back in 2004, and it was really revolutionary with many of the features that are standard with iOS/Android interfaces today. But I digress... back now to the operating system of the N8: with the recent update to Symbian S^3 Belle (vs. Anna that came standard stock), it has now caught up to Android Gingerbread (I haven't used an Android with ICS yet) with many of the same customizeable features and even some additional. The major drawback is of course the shortage of apps. Between online developers in the Qt language and Nokia's ovi store you can find all of the critical ones albeit not as conveniently as Android Market or iTunes store (e.g. What's App, ScandIt, Google Maps, Opera, Vlingo, Skype, Sports Tracker, Angry Birds) but not nearly the selection that Apple and Google have to offer. One note about Google Maps - I do prefer it vs. Nokia's built in GPS map program, but the internal one does offer 2 advantages: ability to load maps offline (no data for navigation when abroad), and turn by turn voice directions.
I only have 1 minor gripe: battery life is not what i have come to hold as standard from Symbian. Most devices run circles around Android/iPhone that require charging ever 1-2 days. With normal usage, I can usually get about 3-3.5 days from the N8, but my standard of expectations was in the 5-6 range. Lastly, rather than the standard black/gray color, I was happy to get this beautiful blue color; suggest to try opting for orange or green as well. Nokia has just recently announced the successor to this beautiful device, the 808 - with a whopping 41mp sensor (and complicated algorithms to downsample to optimized 8mp images), with a faster processor and more RAM which will certainly be my next phone.Read full review...
The best multimidia smartphone
This cell is the best in multimidia jobs.....the camera with 12 Mp is amazing and the quality of the video, with hi-definition and HDMI output is outstanding too.
His hardware is perfect, and I don´t care if his work with symbian OS. For my everyday use, its perfect, cause I only need a great camera, a good free GPS and wi-fi and 3G internet.
His price is very cheap, compared with others smartphones.

Nokia N8 new great step in connecting me with people for over 10 years now!
After my old Nokia worked for 10 years without a single issue for me,then for my friend and then for her mom I don't want to invest in anything but Nokia when getting a new phone any other company. Something bright,interesting and different from a common all-around-the-place iPhone. his phone has all features tha I needed and some I didn't know I might take advantage of!
It's relatively new so some content and applications are definitely missing or not yet complete but it's all minor and will change shortly. Totally love the design,menu and basic features while the camera quality is just amazing! Convenient menu layout makes it easy for any Nokia user to switch without spending extra time on getting used to it.
