Easy to use
I have bought a number of these smart plugs. This brand (TP-Link) does not require a special hub; just an app called Kasa. It sets up easily, using the app. There was no problem getting ,y household wiFi to recognize it or giving each one a name or setting up a schedule.. It is compatible with Amazon Echo/Alexa.
This one is being used as a timer for my grow light stand. I prefer it over mechanical timers as I do not have to reset it every spring & fall when the clocks are changed. This particular plug is in a spot that is difficult to access, so my arthritic knees are grateful to set it and forget it!Read full review

Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug unable to perform momentary functions
In addition to turning ON and OFF lights around my home, I bought this Smart Plug to use as a momentary switch for my garage door and a gate. The garage and gate operate using a momentary switch. Unfortunately the Kasa Wi-Fi Plug is not capable of performing a momentary function (ON-WAIT-OFF) for wait times less than one minute. It's disappointing as I like the user interface and ability to assign any picture as an 'avatar' (is that the right word?) to the switch.
It works fine as an ON or OFF switch so if that's all you need then this smart Wi-Fi plug will work for you. It is very easy to configure and only takes a couple minutes to integrate it into your network. I hope the folks at TP-Link find a fix. Until then I will buy the more expensive Sonoff Smart Plug.Read full review
